Lüdecke is a German manufacturer of quick couplings, fittings and valves for low-pressure systems. The company was founded in Leipzig in 1930 by the engineer Emil Georg Lüdecke, who developed the claw coupling for compressed air that is used worldwide today. Since 1949 the company has been producing in Amberg, Bavaria. Today the family-owned LÜDECKE GmbH offers around 30,000 products for pneumatics, mould temperature control, construction and the food industry. We offer quick couplings for compressed air, couplings for plastics machinery and moulds, SKG bayonet couplings, as well as coiled hoses with fittings and blow guns.
A coupling and a nipple only fit together if they share the same profile. The most common is the European profile ES DN 7.2, but Lüdecke also makes larger bores for tools with high air consumption and profiles for machines from America, Britain or Asia.
German manufacturerLüdecke coupling systems
ES — standard DN 7.2
The most common profile for air. Brass quick couplings and nipples for the workshop, compressor and tools.
- single shut-off, double shut-off or free flow
- pressure up to 35 bar
- MS 58 brass or nickel-plated
ESE — stainless steel
For food, pharma and chemicals. Stainless DN 7.2 couplings wherever cleanliness and corrosion matter.
- stainless steel 1.4305
- working temperature up to +200 °C
- also for other gases and liquids
ESIS — safety couplings
Disconnects in two steps. The coupling first vents the hose and only then releases the nipple.
- no hose whip on disconnection
- flow 1,800 l/min
- DN 7.8 profile, up to 12 bar
ESIG Industry — DN 10
More air for demanding tools. Robust nickel-plated brass and steel couplings for industry and construction.
- flow 2,100 l/min
- single or double shut-off
- hose tails up to 19 mm
ESG — high flow DN 19
For machines with high air demand. A large MS 58 brass coupling with low pressure drop.
- flow 8,000 l/min
- hose tails 19 and 25 mm
- also with G 1" and G 1 1/4" threads
Other profiles — ESA, ESO, ESBI, ESK
When the machine has no European nipple. Quick couplings for American, Benelux, British and Asian profiles.
- ESA and ESAI — American profile
- ESO and ESOI — Switzerland and Benelux
- ESBI British, ESK Asian
Couplings for moulds
Water and thermal oil up to +200 °C. ESHM, ESH and ESHG series for plastics machinery and moulds, also in stainless steel.
- nipples 9, 13 and 19 mm
- free flow or shut-off as required
- up to 15 bar, FKM seal
SKG — bayonet couplings
For building sites and heavy duty. Malleable iron couplings with a double safety tab for compressed air on site.
- DIN 3489, 10 bar
- temperature −40 to +95 °C
- hose tail, female or male thread

How to choose a quick coupling
1. Identify the profile
Check the nipple on the tool or machine. The coupling and nipple must share the same profile; the most common is the European ES DN 7.2.
2. Choose the shut-off
A single shut-off coupling closes the supply when disconnected, so only the air in the nipple escapes. For liquids choose double shut-off, for maximum flow choose free flow.
3. Choose the connection
Pick the hose tail to match the inside diameter of the hose and secure the hose with a clamp. On a pipeline or machine, the coupling screws on with a G or M thread.
4. Look after it
Keep the coupling clean and replace worn ones in time. A leaking coupling wastes air all the time, and the compressor has to produce it again.
Frequently asked questions
- Does a nipple from another brand fit a Lüdecke ES coupling?
- Yes, if it has the same DN 7.2 profile. The European profile is standardised, so DN 7.2 couplings and nipples from different manufacturers fit together. Couplings with other profiles, such as American or British, will not connect to each other.
- What is the difference between single and double shut-off?
- With single shut-off only the coupling has a valve, so after disconnection the medium escapes only from the nipple. With double shut-off the nipple has a valve too and nothing escapes, which makes it suitable for liquids. A free-flow coupling has no valve at all and gives the highest flow.
- What is the ESIS safety coupling for?
- It disconnects in two steps. First the coupling vents the pressure from the hose, and only then releases the nipple. This prevents the hose from whipping.
- Which coupling should I use for moulds and temperature control?
- For plastics machinery there are the ESHM, ESH and ESHG series with 9, 13 or 19 mm nipples. They handle water and thermal oil up to +200 °C and a pressure of 15 bar. Coloured rings let you mark which medium flows through each hose.
- Brass or stainless steel?
- For the workshop and a standard air line, brass or nickel-plated brass is enough. Choose ESE stainless couplings for food, pharma and chemicals and wherever there is a risk of corrosion or high temperature.
- Does Lüdecke manufacture in Germany?
- Yes. Lüdecke develops and manufactures its products in-house in Amberg, Bavaria, where the company has been based since 1949. Its quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and its environmental management system to ISO 14001:2015.
