Analogue vs. digital tyre inflators
Analogue tyre inflators use a classic mechanical gauge (dial) to display the pressure. They typically have a clear dual scale in bar and psi, so you read the current pressure straight from the needle on the dial. The advantage of analogue gauges is simplicity – they need no batteries and are usually durable and reliable across a wide temperature range. For example, the basic TG-09 model has a gauge 63 mm in diameter with a rubber protective cover and a scale in bar, kPa, psi and other units. Analogue inflators serve well for routine tyre pressure checks, with the accuracy of quality types reaching about 1 % (accuracy class 1,0), which is sufficient for normal use.
Digital tyre inflators show the pressure on an electronic display. This allows a very precise reading – often with a fine resolution of, for instance, 0,05 bar. Modern digital models can also switch between several pressure units (bar, PSI, kPa, etc.) for easier use in different conditions. An example is the TG-03A, fitted with a monochrome digital display, designed for inflating tyres in trade workshops and home applications. You will appreciate digital tyre inflators especially when you need to read the exact pressure quickly and comfortably (e.g. on several vehicles or when setting a specific pressure for racing purposes). A possible drawback is the need for battery power (typically a replaceable 3V lithium battery) and a somewhat higher purchase price. For ordinary home use the digital functions are not essential, but in professional operation they make the work significantly faster and more accurate.

Design of inflators: hoses and valve connectors
Most tyre inflators have a flexible hose usually 30–50 cm long, with a valve connector at the end for fitting onto the tyre valve. The hose allows comfortable handling – you can easily reach even hard-to-access valves on car or motorcycle wheels. For example, the basic TG models have a hose of about 340 mm, while more robust professional inflators have longer hoses of around 500 mm for better reach. On some professional models the hose is attached via a swivel joint that prevents the hose from twisting during work. There are also special designs without a separate hose, where the inflator has a fixed dual head – such a dual connector allows quick inflating and measuring especially on twin wheels of trucks (dual tyres). You will find these straight dual valve connectors, for example, on portable tyre inflating units (see below); they make work on trucks and buses easier.
An important part is the end fitting (valve connector) that you fit onto the tyre valve. We distinguish several types:

Basic (straight) valve connector – a simple fitting that you push directly onto the car or motorcycle valve (Schrader) and press on. On cheaper inflators it is often a fixed part of the hose (e.g. the TG-01 has a basic valve connector suitable for common valves on passenger cars, motorcycles and bicycles). While inflating you have to hold the connector by hand or screw it on; it has no locking mechanism.

Lever (quick-lock) valve connector – a fitting with a lever that clamps onto the valve once fitted. The advantage is that it holds on the valve by itself, so the operator has free hands and the certainty of a tight connection. It can also be bought separately as an accessory and fitted onto the inflator hose. For example, the TGV-P lever valve connector is intended as an add-on for TG series inflators, allowing comfortable inflating without having to hold the connector. This type is appreciated especially by professionals who inflate many tyres frequently.

Double-sided valve connector – a special fitting with two heads, usually one straight and one angled. It allows valves to be operated from both sides, which is ideal for twin wheels of trucks or buses (you can easily reach the valve of both the inner and the outer tyre). Double-sided connectors are often combined with a handle for better handling. For example, the professional TG-63D inflator is designed directly for inflating twin truck tyres and is fitted with a double-sided valve connector with an extension.

The operation of the inflator itself is similar for all types – a pistol grip with a lever (trigger). When the lever is pressed, air flows from the compressor into the tyre; when released, the flow stops. To release excess pressure there is either a small button (usually on the side or at the back of the unit) or, on more sophisticated models, it is enough to press the lever only partly (halfway through its travel) for the release mode. This allows the pressure to be fine-tuned very precisely. A standard quick coupling nipple DN 7,2 is used to connect the inflator to the air supply on all common models – so you simply click it onto the hose from the compressor.
The right type for each user
When choosing a tyre inflator it is useful to consider who will use it and how. Occasional home inflating has different requirements than the busy operation of a tyre service or a filling station running non-stop. Below we list typical user groups and the recommended solutions.
For households and hobby users
Home DIY enthusiasts and ordinary drivers will usually appreciate a simple and affordable inflator with which they can check and top up the tyres of a car, motorcycle or bicycle. The ideal choice are basic analogue tyre inflators of the TG series in the basic version. For example, the TG-09 model (or the very similar TG-01) is fully sufficient for easy inflating of tyres on cars, motorcycles and bicycles. It has a light aluminium body, a clear gauge and lever control with a release button. These inflators handle pressures commonly up to 8–10 bar, which covers the needs of passenger cars (usually around 2–3 bar) as well as most motorcycles and bicycles. For home use it is an advantage that they are compact, easy to connect to a smaller compressor and that spare parts are available (hoses, gauges, seals) in case of wear.

If a home user wants a more comfortable pressure reading, they can reach for a digital inflator. The TG-03A model, for instance, already belongs among the affordable digital inflators and is intended both for hobby use and for smaller workshops. The digital display makes reading the values easier even in poor light and eliminates estimating the needle position. For occasional inflating in the garage it is a convenience, though not a necessity – an analogue model does the job just as well, it only requires more careful reading. So it is a matter of preference; in any case, even for home use we recommend choosing an inflator with a metal body and a protective gauge cover so that it lasts a long time undamaged (most of the models on offer meet this).
For trade workshops and garages
Smaller professional workshops, car services or, for example, hauliers with their own garage will use the inflator more often – daily or several times a day. Here it pays to invest in a more robust version that withstands frequent handling and lasts many years in service. A good choice can be analogue inflators with a larger gauge (Ø80 mm), which offer better readability and often higher accuracy. For example, the TG-80 belongs among the more professional analogue models: it has an 80mm gauge with a dual bar/psi scale and a rubber protective cover. You will appreciate the larger dial in the workshop at a glance – the mechanic sees the pressure immediately, even from a wider angle or from a distance. For workshops where inflating is done only occasionally (e.g. as part of a vehicle service inspection), an analogue inflator is enough; if, however, you service several vehicles in the garage and need speed, consider a digital model.

For more intensive workshop use there are mid-range digital inflators combining durability and modern functions. The already mentioned TG-03A can serve well in a small workshop too – it has a hanging eyelet for hanging above the workbench or the lift and a rubber-protected display. The next step up would be, for example, the SB-3130, a professional digital inflator suitable for tyre and car services (see the next section). For smaller businesses, however, an analogue device is often enough and the type of connector matters more – if you also inflate vans or trucks, do not forget a double-sided valve head for twin wheels or a hose of sufficient length. The advantage of the range in this category is that you can choose exactly the variant you need – for example, the TG-80D type is supplied directly with a double-sided valve connector for universal use on passenger car and truck tyres.
For car services and tyre services (professional use)
In professional tyre and car services, where tyres are inflated very often, high demands are placed on the speed, accuracy and durability of the equipment. For such purposes we offer precise analogue and digital tyre inflators designed for daily intensive use. These inflators usually have a robust metal body (e.g. of lightweight aluminium alloy) resistant to mechanical damage, quality gauges with high accuracy and often also official certification or calibration according to standards.
Analogue professional inflators with calibration: Among the top products are the Euroair inflators of the TGE series, which are robust and precise, with quality parts tested according to EEC directives. They are available in versions with different measuring ranges (e.g. up to 10 bar or up to 25 bar) and with different connectors – basic, lever or double-sided (model designation with the letters B, P etc.). These inflators meet the strict EN 12645:2014 standard for tyre pressure measurement, so you can rely on their reading even in professional practice. If you run a tyre service where the accuracy of measuring instruments must be documented, a calibrated analogue inflator is the right solution. Thanks to the well-designed lever mechanism (half press to release, full press to inflate), work with these devices is fast and efficient.

Digital inflators for service operations: Digital models with high accuracy are designed for the highest demands. Euroair TGD is a digital inflator with an accuracy of ±0,08 bar and a fine resolution of 0,05 bar, suitable also for industrial deployment and special applications. Thanks to certification by the German PTB testing institute and the option of a calibrated version, it is also suitable where regular verification of measuring instruments is required. The digital display 80 mm in diameter has a protective rubber cover and shows the pressure in several units. These inflators are built as the highest quality for everyday professional use – which corresponds to their higher weight and robustness (e.g. almost 1 kg for the TGD). Another example is the already mentioned SB-3130, a digital inflator popular in car services: it can measure in PSI, bar and kPa and is intended directly for use in tyre services, car services or transport companies. It allows quick switching of the required pressure mode and its durable construction withstands rougher handling in the workshop. For professional operation we recommend choosing models with an ergonomic grip, a quality hose (ideally swivelling) and a reliable valve connector – all of which our professional models meet.

For non-stop operation (filling stations, mobile service)
A special category of use are filling stations, public air stations or mobile service units, where an inflator is needed that withstands rough handling, is easy to carry and ideally works even independently of a permanent compressor connection. Portable tyre inflating units such as the TGA AirQuick serve this purpose. It is a mobile wheel inflator adapted for easy carrying in one hand and usable also by the general public – you typically see it at self-service tyre inflating points at petrol stations. The TGA unit contains a built-in pressure vessel with a volume of 6 litres, so it can work for a certain time even without a hose connected to a compressor (it holds enough air to top up several tyres). It has an extra large gauge Ø160 mm, tilted for easy reading and water drainage, so the pressure is clearly visible even from a distance and in bad weather. A dual connector for inflating twin truck tyres is a matter of course, as is the built-in automatic pressure refill system – after returning the inflator to its holder (hanging it on the filling valve), the air reservoir is automatically refilled. This device meets strict safety requirements (it is approved as a simple pressure vessel and the gauge complies with directive 86/217/EEC on accuracy). For non-stop operation it is the ideal solution – operation is simple, the device is durable and handles a high load. If you run a filling station or a service where customers top up their tyres themselves, the portable TGA unit will give you a reliable and safe tool. It can also be supplied in a version with a calibrated gauge for official verification purposes.

Accessories and add-ons for inflating
In addition to the inflating devices themselves, this category also includes all accessories for tyre inflating. Thanks to this you can adapt your tyre inflator for various uses or simply replace a worn part instead of buying a new device.
For example, if you need to inflate a bicycle with a Presta valve or pump up sports balls or air mattresses, all you need is the right adapter. We offer valve sets containing the most common adapters – typically a pack of three including a bicycle adapter, a needle valve for balls and a wide plastic valve for mattresses. You simply fit these adapters onto the inflator outlet (basic car valve) and can pump up almost anything. Also available as accessories are spare lever valve connectors and double-sided end fittings – you can use them to upgrade your existing TG inflator if you need to extend its use (e.g. the mentioned TGV-P lever valve connector for more comfortable inflating or the TGV-D double-sided head for inflating twin wheels). For service use we also supply spare gauges in various ranges – for example a 63 mm gauge 0–10 bar for the TG-09 or a larger 80 mm gauge for the Euroair series. So if your original dial gets damaged or you need a different scale range, there is no need to buy a whole new device. Spare hoses with connectors in various lengths (300 mm, 500 mm etc.) and G1/4" threads for compatibility are of course available too – they can be used to repair the inflator or to create your own configuration (e.g. a longer hose with a double-sided valve connector for inflating trucks).
