The standard nozzle is the simplest and most widespread type of blow gun tip. It is a sturdy metal tube with a single central hole through which compressed air flows straight out. This nozzle type generally gives the blow gun a concentrated air jet at high speed and force, with no additional functions or restrictions. Standard nozzles are the usual equipment on blow guns – they often come in the box from the maker. Their simplicity and durability make them popular in hobby workshops and industrial plants alike for everyday cleaning and blowing away contamination.

Function
The main function of the standard nozzle is to direct compressed air straight at the surface being cleaned. Its central hole concentrates the flow into a narrow jet, which efficiently blows dust, sawdust, metal swarf and other contaminants out of various places. Because it has no special silencing or safety features, it reaches the maximum pressure and outlet air speed that the blow gun and the set compressor pressure allow. Its simple construction minimises pressure drop – all the air passes straight through with no output lost to silencing inserts, for example.

- Universal use: It lets you blow off a wide range of materials and surfaces. From the home garage to the production hall it handles most everyday cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Use
In hobby settings: The standard nozzle is ideal for home workshops and garages. It serves for cleaning the workbench, tools and garden machines or for blowing sawdust off woodworking machines, for example. Thanks to its simplicity you just connect the gun to the compressor and can blow dust off computer components (carefully, at lower pressure) or clear pipes and hoses.
In industry: In production plants standard nozzles are used for quickly cleaning components and work surfaces of dust, chips or liquid. In metalworking for blowing swarf off machine tools, in car service for blowing contamination out of filters or brake systems, or in construction when cleaning tools and moulds. The standard nozzle finds its place where no special emphasis is put on noise reduction or particular safety features – its aim is above all maximum blowing power.
Tips for users
- Wear eye protection: A strong air jet can easily lift dust and small particles that may bounce back towards the operator. Always wear safety glasses or a face shield to avoid eye injury.
- Pressure regulation: Although the standard nozzle allows full output, that does not mean you always need maximum pressure. For finer work (cleaning electronics, for instance) reduce the pressure at the compressor or gun to avoid damaging sensitive components and needlessly swirling dirt around.
- Safe distance: Keep a sensible distance from the object you are blowing. Holding the nozzle too close to the surface can send contaminants flying sharply back. A modest gap lets the air jet carry the dirt in the intended direction.
- Nozzle maintenance: The standard nozzle usually needs no special maintenance, but check occasionally that the hole is not blocked (by a piece of material, for example). If it is clogged, clean it carefully with a thin wire or needle with the gun disconnected from pressure.
Compatibility
The standard nozzle is usually compatible with most blow guns on the market. Replaceable nozzles have standardised threads (M12×1.25 or a metric equivalent, for example), so they screw easily onto various gun bodies. Before buying a separate nozzle, though, check the thread type on your gun so everything fits. Some cheaper blow guns may have the nozzle permanently integrated – there replacement is not possible. Most quality guns do allow it, which means you can switch to another nozzle type at any time as needed (silenced, safety and so on). The standard nozzle is often the starting point, but if your work requires special properties (quieter operation or greater safety), you can easily replace it with a more advanced type.
