Connection systems in the field of automation technology

Push-in fittings in a plastic and brass version

This is the most modern system for connecting plastic tubes with the simplest assembly procedure. You simply push the tube into the fitting, and the pressure in the tube together with the gripping edge in the fitting ensure that the tube holds perfectly in the joint. To dismantle the fitting it is enough to release the pressure, press the ring and pull out the tube. With this type of fitting, what matters is the outer diameter of the tube!

  • Advantages - extremely easy assembly and dismantling of the fittings
  • Disadvantages - cannot be used for negative pressure

Fitting with a push-on barb

The simplest system for connecting plastic tubes. You only push the tube onto the barb and everything is done! With this type of fitting only the inner diameter matters.

  • Advantages - easy assembly and above all a saving of space
  • Disadvantages - cannot be used for higher pressures

Fitting with a union nut

The traditional way of connecting tubes. Assembly is somewhat more laborious than with the previous joints. First it is necessary to unscrew the nut from the fitting and pass the tube through it. Then we push the tube onto the barb of the fitting  and finally we tighten the nut onto the body of the fitting. With this type of fitting, both the outer and the inner diameter of the tubes matter!

  • Advantages - perfect strength of the joint, can also be used for vacuum
  • Disadvantages - more complicated assembly

Fitting with a cutting ring

The most robust way of connecting plastic tubes. First the tube must be cut off perpendicularly. Then we slide the nut from the fitting onto it and insert a support sleeve into the cut end. We fasten the tube prepared in this way to the body of the fitting using the nut. With this type of fitting, both the outer and the inner diameter of the tubes matter.

  • Advantages - maximum strength of the joint, use also for high pressures and temperatures, can be used for softer metal pipes and vacuum
  • Disadvantages - more complicated assembly, higher price
