Stříkací pistole pro práškové lakování s tryskou 1,3 mm
Spray guns with a 1.3 mm nozzle are among the most popular all-round options for painting. This nozzle diameter is ideal for applying primers, fillers and thicker lacquers, and allows fast coverage of medium-sized areas.

Uses for the 1.3 mm nozzle: The 1.3 mm diameter falls into the middle nozzle category, able to handle ordinary paints and lacquers across the board. Narrower nozzles (1.0 mm, for example) are used for very thin materials and fine detail, while wider ones (1.7 mm and up) are meant for extra-thick coatings. The 1.3 mm nozzle is the ideal compromise – it copes with primers, fillers and thicker lacquers without the gun clogging or "spitting" paint. Compared with the smaller 1.2 mm it also applies a greater volume of material, which speeds up work on medium-sized parts while keeping a quality spray pattern.
Examples of use: This nozzle diameter proves itself especially where a decent volume of applied paint has to combine with a still sufficiently fine mist. Typical applications include:
- Applying body primers and fillers (during repairs and priming of body parts before the top coat, for example).
- Painting machine and process parts – equipment components with intricate or larger surfaces.
- Spraying surfaces with a coarser texture that need a heavier coat to even them out (thicker paint fills irregularities better).
- Workshop painting of larger items (big metal structures, frames, cabinets and the like), where the 1.3 mm nozzle allows fast area coverage without needlessly long spraying.
Recommended pressure: For spray guns with a 1.3 mm nozzle a working pressure of around 2 bar is usually chosen. Modern HVLP guns reach optimum atomisation at an inlet pressure of about 1.8–2.2 bar (depending on the model), while more economical LVLP models can work at slightly lower pressure. Too low a pressure gives a coarse spray and imperfect atomisation; too high a pressure causes excessive misting and higher material consumption. It is therefore best to follow the gun maker's recommendation (typically the 2 bar mentioned) so the 1.3 mm nozzle delivers its best – a fine, even coat with no runs.
Advantages over 1.2 mm: Compared with the smaller 1.2 mm nozzle, the 1.3 mm offers higher paint flow and therefore faster coverage of larger areas. It applies thicker materials more safely, where a 1.2 mm nozzle could easily clog. Overall the 1.3 mm is more versatile – one gun with this nozzle handles more types of work (from primers to painting larger parts). The 1.2 mm nozzle, by contrast, suits smaller areas or very thin, runny paints where you value an extra-fine mist, but you must accept slower application.
The 1.4 mm alternative: One step up, the 1.4 mm nozzle applies even more material in less time, which helps on genuinely large areas or extra-heavy coatings (high-solids 2K primers, high-build topcoats). For ordinary painting, though, 1.4 mm may be unnecessarily large – it requires careful setting so that thin lacquers do not run or overspray. That is why many painters choose 1.3 mm as the golden middle way that covers most needs. If you plan mainly fine work or very thin materials, the smaller 1.2 mm nozzle may suit you better. For the fastest work on large areas and dense coatings, consider the larger 1.4 mm nozzle.
