Stříkací pistole pro práškové lakování s tryskou 1,8 mm
Spray guns with a 1.8 mm nozzle are intended above all for applying very thick coatings. The larger nozzle diameter lets them handle high-build fillers, spray putties, two-component (2K) primers and high-solids paints with even surface coverage.

Using the 1.8 mm nozzle for thick materials: The 1.8 mm nozzle comes into its own where smaller diameters fall short. It sprays high-build primers and fillers without trouble – the ones used to fill surface irregularities before final painting. It is equally ideal for two-component 2K primers of higher viscosity and for high-solids top coats or enamels containing more solids and fewer solvents. In short, wherever greater paint flow and dependable atomisation of thick material are needed, the 1.8 mm nozzle fits. This parametric category lists every suitable 1.8 mm gun from our range of spray guns for paint shops and tradespeople.
Examples in practice: You will most often meet the 1.8 mm nozzle in car repair and industrial painting on coarser work. Typical situations where you will appreciate this diameter:
- Filling and levelling body irregularities with a high-build filler before sanding and painting
- Applying spray putty to repaired body parts to even out the surface
- Industrial priming of large metal areas and structures with a heavy layer of primer
- Spraying the first coarse coats when repairing larger surfaces (the rough phase before fine finishing)
With a 1.8 mm nozzle you can apply the required heavy layer quickly and evenly in these cases, which makes filling and priming work more efficient.
Recommended working pressure and nozzle comparison: When spraying thicker materials through a 1.8 mm nozzle, an adequate air pressure is advisable. Modern HVLP guns usually work with a lower inlet pressure of about 2 bar (so the required ~0.7 bar reaches the nozzle), while conventional spray guns may need a higher pressure of around 3–4 bar. Setting the pressure correctly ensures fine atomisation even of thick paint and a smooth coat with no "spitting". Compared with the 1.7 mm nozzle, the 1.8 mm gives slightly higher paint flow, so applying extra-thick compounds is smoother and faster. If you needed still more throughput for extremely thick materials, a larger diameter such as 1.9 mm is available. The 1.8 mm nozzle, however, covers the overwhelming majority of high-build primer applications and is among the most popular choices for spraying fillers and 2K primers.
Limits for fine lacquers and final coats: Every nozzle has its optimum use – for 1.8 mm that is a heavy layer and high viscosity. For very fine painting and thin materials (top acrylic lacquers, metallics, pearlescent paints or clear coats in the final layers) such a large diameter is not ideal. With too large a nozzle, thin paints could run, create a coarser texture or an excessively heavy layer. For final painting and thinner coats, smaller nozzles are therefore usually chosen (1.3–1.5 mm, for example), giving a finer spray and a smooth surface. The 1.8 mm nozzle is thus a specialist for priming and filling work – for a top-class finish a gun with a smaller nozzle takes over.
