Stříkací pistole pro práškové lakování s tryskou 1,9 mm
Spray guns with a 1.9 mm nozzle are made for applying extra-thick coatings where smaller nozzle diameters fall short. They handle spray putties, high-solids fillers and special protective coatings for technical and industrial surfaces.

Uses for the 1.9 mm nozzle
Spray guns fitted with a 1.9 mm nozzle are used above all when applying very thick, high-viscosity materials. This nozzle diameter allows the passage and atomisation of coatings that smaller nozzles (1.4 mm or 1.8 mm, for example) could not handle smoothly enough. These are typically spray putties (polyester spray fillers for levelling a surface), high-solids primers and protective coatings on technical or industrial surfaces. Such materials require a heavier layer and maximum coverage, to which a larger nozzle contributes decisively. Thanks to its large diameter, a 1.9 mm nozzle lets the gun apply a heavy layer evenly, without interruption or clogging, which ensures a quality finish even in demanding applications.
Examples of use
- Vehicle underbody coatings: high-build protective sprays on car underbodies and wheel arches, protecting against corrosion, flying grit and mechanical wear.
- Priming steel structures: applying anti-corrosion primers to metal structures (steel hall frames, bridges and the like) with high-solids fillers that form a robust protective layer.
- Painting machine parts exposed to wear: applying heavy protective coatings to machine and equipment components that must withstand intense mechanical stress or environmental exposure.
Recommended pressure and comparison with 1.8 mm and 2.0 mm nozzles
Choosing a suitable working pressure matters for atomising thick materials properly. On modern HVLP guns with a 1.9 mm nozzle, a pressure of around 2 bar at the gun inlet is usual, giving fine atomisation even of heavy coatings while limiting paint drifting into the surroundings. With a conventional (high-pressure) gun, around 3–4 bar may be required – but the gun maker's and the paint maker's recommendations always apply.
Compared with the smaller 1.8 mm nozzle, the 1.9 mm version offers higher material flow (the orifice cross-section is roughly 10 % larger). In practice that means faster coverage and more dependable spraying of very thick compounds without excessive thinning. A gun with a 1.9 mm nozzle therefore handles demanding materials (fillers, putties) better, with less risk of pulsing or clogging, than the same gun fitted with 1.8 mm.
If 1.9 mm is still not enough, the next step is the 2.0 mm nozzle. It allows even greater paint passage and suits extremely thick coatings or special applications (gel coats or textured finishes, for example). Bear in mind, though, that a larger nozzle also raises material consumption and the spray may be somewhat coarser. For most ordinary purposes involving thick paints and fillers, the 1.9 mm diameter is therefore the ideal compromise between sufficient output and still good spray control.
