What does TÜV certification mean and why does it matter?
TÜV is the mark of the independent German technical inspection organisations (Technischer Überwachungsverein), which focus on product safety and conformity with European and international standards. In pressure equipment such as safety valves, TÜV certification is an important guarantee that the valve:
- has passed tightness, accuracy and reliability tests,
- has been tested at real working pressure,
- meets the requirements of Directive PED 2014/68/EU,
- is suitable for use in pressure systems throughout the EU and beyond.
The TÜV certificate is therefore an internationally recognised mark of quality and safety.
What does the TÜV-SV.1048 certification type denote?
The TÜV-SV.1048 certification denotes specific approval of safety valves for:
- gaseous and liquid media such as air, inert gases, oils, water or lubricating fluids,
- spring-mechanism designs,
- standard working temperatures,
- use above all in industrial and technical applications.

Valves certified SV.1048 are usually brass or stainless steel, with NBR or PTFE seals. They suit, for example:
- compressor set-ups,
- compressed air networks,
- pneumatic or hydraulic systems,
- smaller pressure vessels,
- lubrication units.
Typically these are compact threaded safety valves in a pressure range from a few bar up to 40 bar.
