HiSEAL is a Czech brand of sealants for threaded joints. One range covers HST PTFE tapes, HSC sealing cords made of PTFE and HSG thread adhesives for installation and engineering jobs: from compressed air lines to water and gas installations.
Tapes and cords seal the joint against leaks. HSG adhesives are anaerobic: they cure inside the thread without air, seal the joint and at the same time lock it against loosening from vibration and shock.

HSC cord also works on plastic threads, HSG adhesives are for metal threads only.
How to seal a thread
1. Clean
Clean the male and female threads of dirt and old sealant. Before using adhesive, also degrease them and let them dry.
2. Choose the seal
For a joint you will adjust after tightening, use HSC cord. For a joint that must also resist vibration, use HSG adhesive.
3. Apply
Apply adhesive all around the leading threads, leaving the first thread free. Wind the cord from the dispenser straight onto the pipe thread.
4. Tighten
Tighten the joint as usual. HSG-542 holds after 15 to 20 minutes and reaches full strength after 24 hours.
Frequently asked questions
- Are HiSEAL tapes suitable for gas?
- Yes. HST PTFE tapes hold DVGW certification to EN 751-3 for gas installations and meet Czech rules for contact with drinking water. You can therefore use them on both gas and water installations.
- When to use tape or cord and when adhesive?
- HST tapes are mainly for smaller threads up to 1″, HSC cord for threads up to 4″. Both seal the thread against leaks. Adhesives also lock the joint against loosening from vibration, so for a joint that must seal and hold, they do both.
- How strong is a joint made with HSG-542?
- The adhesive has medium strength: breakaway torque 15 Nm and prevailing torque 9 Nm to ISO 10964 on M10 steel bolts. The joint holds but can be taken apart.
- How do I take apart a joint made with HSG-542?
- You can undo it with ordinary hand tools. On diameters over 1″, where tools are not enough, heat the joint to about 250 °C and dismantle it while hot.
- Are HSG adhesives suitable for plastic threads?
- Usually not. On plastics, especially thermoplastics, there is a risk of stress cracking. For plastic pipes and fittings, use HSC cord.
- Can I use the adhesive for oxygen?
- No. HSG-542 is not recommended for pure oxygen systems or for sealing chlorine and other strong oxidising substances.
