After the air is switched on, the soft-start valve fills the machine slowly through a throttle orifice. When the pressure after it reaches about half the inlet pressure, it switches to full flow. You set the build-up speed with a screw.

What it is for
It protects the machine and the operator from cylinders moving abruptly at start-up. A shut-off valve goes before it. Size 1 is suitable for tools and smaller machines.

A mechanical device with no ignition source of its own.
