MANO R dial pressure regulators

MANO R dial regulators by Wilkerson (Dial-Air series) combine three things in one unit: a pressure regulator, an indicator of the set pressure and a shut-off valve. You set the pressure by turning the large transparent knob and read the set value directly on the scale beneath it, in bar and psi. You cover the full range of 0–11 bar by turning the knob through 270°.
In the OFF position, the regulator shuts off the air supply and vents the outlet, so it also replaces a 3/2 shut-off valve. They are regulators with secondary venting for an inlet pressure of up to 21 bar. Five sizes from G 1/4" to G 2" cover flow rates of 3,000 to 24,000 l/min. They are particularly suitable for control panels: the regulator sits behind the panel, the knob with the scale in front of it.
What the MANO R regulators offer
- regulator, set-pressure indicator and shut-off valve in one unit
- you read the set pressure on the scale in bar and psi, no pressure gauge needed
- the full range of 0–11 bar with one 270° turn of the knob
- the OFF position shuts off the air supply and vents the outlet
- secondary venting: after reducing the pressure, excess air escapes from the outlet by itself
- stops under the knob limit the highest or lowest pressure the operator can set
- panel mounting through a ⌀ 69 mm hole, panel thickness up to 32 mm
- two side connections G 1/4" for a pressure gauge or another regulated outlet

How to choose a MANO R regulator
- Size according to air consumption. Add up the air consumption of the machines and tools downstream of the regulator. G 1/4" handles 3,000 l/min, G 1/2" 5,000 l/min, G 3/4" 8,000 l/min, G 1" 9,000 l/min and G 2" 24,000 l/min.
- Thread according to the pipework. If you need the full flow rate, the manufacturer recommends a regulator of the same nominal size as the pipework, without restrictions caused by fittings.
- Network pressure. The inlet pressure may be no more than 21 bar; at the outlet, you set 0–11 bar.
Example: there are 8 bar in the air network, the machine needs 6 bar and consumes up to 2,000 l/min. Size G 1/4" is sufficient – this is MANOR1411. According to the manufacturer’s flow curve, the set 6 bar drops by only 0.3 bar at an inlet pressure of 8 bar and an air consumption of 2,500 l/min.

How the MANO R regulator works

- Turning the knob (1) compresses the springs (2). Via the pistons (3, 4), they open the valve in the seat (7) and air flows from the inlet (5) to the outlet (6).
- The outlet pressure acts on the pistons against the springs. When it reaches the set value, the valve partially closes and only as much air flows through as is being consumed. The return spring (8) pushes the valve into the seat.
- When you reduce the pressure, the excess air from the outlet escapes through the vent (secondary venting) and the pressure drops immediately, even with no air being consumed.
- The scale under the knob shows the set pressure. The manufacturer calibrates it to an accuracy of ±0.14 bar at 7 bar and ±0.34 bar at 1.4 bar.
- The regulator has a small own air consumption of no more than 1.4 l/min. This is part of how it works.
Scale and stops

- Under the transparent knob there is a 0–11 bar and 0–160 psi scale and the OFF position.
- You set the stop under the knob so that the operator cannot turn above (1) or below (2) the selected pressure.
- With two stops (3), you define the range within which the pressure may be changed, or lock the setting completely. The second stop comes in a kit that the manufacturer supplies separately.
- The stops are set after removing the knob, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Flow curves
The manufacturer’s graphs show how the outlet pressure changes as the flow rate increases at an inlet pressure of 8 bar. The lines start at a set pressure of 2, 4 and 6 bar. The flatter the line, the more stable the pressure at high air consumption.

Installation and adjustment
- install a compressed air filter upstream of the regulator – the manufacturer recommends 5 µm filtration
- install the regulator as close to the consumer as possible and connect it so that the air flows in the direction of the arrow on the body; any mounting position is possible
- use pipework of the same nominal size as the regulator thread and avoid restrictions, otherwise the flow rate drops
- in a panel: drill a ⌀ 69 mm hole (panel no thicker than 32 mm), remove the knob, insert the regulator from behind and refit the knob; sizes G 1/4" to G 1" are screwed to the panel with four screws (holes ⌀ 5.5 mm)
- you can screw a pressure gauge into one of the side connections G 1/4" or take another regulated outlet from it; plug the unused connection
- below freezing point, use only dried air
Spare parts and accessories
For the MANO R regulators, the manufacturer supplies a valve repair kit and a second-stop kit for locking the setting. If you need them, send us the code of your regulator. You will find parts for other regulators in the category spare parts and accessories for pressure regulators.

Ventilek advises
Put MANO R where the operator changes the pressure often and needs to keep an eye on it. If you do not want anybody to set more than the machine can take, set the maximum pressure stop.
- standard regulators with pressure gauge: regulators 280 and 406 up to 25 bar
- very precise control: FDR regulators
- pressure in millibar: RPM low-pressure regulators
- Do I need a pressure gauge for the MANO R regulator?
- No. The set pressure is shown by the scale under the knob. If you want to monitor the actual outlet pressure, screw a pressure gauge into the side connection G 1/4".
- What does the OFF position mean?
- In the OFF position, the regulator shuts off the air supply and vents the outlet. It thus replaces a 3/2 shut-off valve upstream of the machine.
- How do I prevent the operator from setting a higher pressure?
- Under the knob there is a stop that you set to the highest permitted pressure. With the manufacturer’s second-stop kit, you can also lock the setting completely.
- Why does a little air escape from the regulator?
- The regulator has a small own air consumption of no more than 1.4 l/min. A short hiss when reducing the pressure is secondary venting. Both are normal.
- How large a hole do I need in the panel?
- A round ⌀ 69 mm hole; the panel may be no thicker than 32 mm. The knob is removed before installation and refitted afterwards.
- Can I use the regulator for a gas other than air?
- The manufacturer specifies it for compressed air. Use with any other gas must be approved by the manufacturer, so please ask us before ordering.
