Stříkací pistole pro práškové lakování s tryskou 0,7 mm
When choosing the right spray gun, the nozzle diameter plays a key role. The 0.7 mm nozzle is a versatile choice on the border between detail and medium spraying. It applies thicker primers and technical coatings on metal surfaces where a smaller nozzle (0.5 mm, for example) might no longer suffice. At the same time it still gives a spray fine enough for precise work on smaller parts. That makes 0.7 mm ideal for professionals and tradespeople who need to paint metal parts dependably, apply primer layers or carry out workshop repairs with thicker paints without losing control of the spray.
Which paints and surfaces suit the 0.7 mm nozzle?
The 0.7 mm nozzle comes into its own where thicker coatings are used (primers, filler primers or durable one- and two-component coatings on metal, for example). Its slightly larger passage atomises more viscous paints better than extra-fine nozzles. You will typically appreciate it when painting metals and technical surfaces using anti-corrosion primers, enamels or other protective coatings that require a greater film thickness. A gun with a 0.7 mm nozzle still produces a fairly fine jet, so it suits small to medium areas without much risk of spattering the surroundings.
Examples of suitable use for the 0.7 mm nozzle:
- Base layers on smaller parts: applying primer or filler to small metal components (minor body repairs, primer on metal brackets or profiles).
- Workshop repairs and maintenance: local repairs to the paint on machines and tools where a heavier layer of durable paint is needed. A gun with a 0.7 mm nozzle can, for instance, repair peeling paint on tools or structures with minimal material waste.
- Painting tools and metal parts: applying a top coat to smaller metal products – from garden tools to decorative metal elements. The 0.7 mm nozzle atomises the thicker synthetic or acrylic paints used here into an even layer.
Spray guns with a 0.7 mm nozzle are often classed as detail (mini) guns intended for smaller areas. Compared with large spray guns they offer a narrower pattern and higher accuracy, while the 0.7 mm nozzle still handles materials that would pass poorly through an even smaller 0.5 mm nozzle.
Recommended pressure, advantages and alternatives to the 0.7 mm nozzle
Working pressure: Spray guns with a 0.7 mm nozzle usually work at around 2–3 bar (depending on the gun's system). For HVLP guns the typical inlet pressure is about 3 bar, which allows correct atomisation even of thicker paints while limiting mist and material waste. It is always advisable to follow the gun maker's recommendation – too low a pressure can lead to a coarser spray, while needlessly high pressure increases waste and can cause misting.
Advantages over the 0.5 mm nozzle: The larger 0.7 mm diameter provides higher paint flow, so paints need less thinning and work goes faster. Thicker primers or industrial coatings go on more evenly and with less risk of the nozzle clogging. Compared with a 0.5 mm nozzle, the 0.7 mm covers the required area better in a few passes, which you will appreciate on base layers. It still keeps a fairly fine spray, so detail does not suffer – the result is smooth and free of coarse texture.
The 1.0 mm alternative: If you needed to apply even heavier layers or paint somewhat larger areas, a larger 1.0 mm nozzle is available. It passes genuinely thick materials (fillers with body pigment, for instance) and covers an area faster. You must expect slightly higher air and paint consumption, though, and somewhat less precision on fine detail. For ordinary technical coatings and primers on smaller parts, 0.7 mm is often the best compromise – a smaller 0.5 mm nozzle would not cope with thick paint, while a larger 1.0 mm could be needlessly coarse.
Tip: For a professional result, choose the right nozzle and the right spraying technology. You will learn more in our guide How to choose a spray gun for applying paint. Remember too that other diameters are available – from the extra-fine 0.5 mm nozzle for the finest work to the larger 1.0 mm for heavier coats. The right choice gives quality surface coverage without needless mistakes.
If you buy a spray gun with a 0.7 mm nozzle, you can look forward to a versatile workshop tool. In this category you will find models that let you apply primer, colour and clear coat to smaller areas with an excellent result. The 0.7 mm nozzle ensures smooth, even material transfer – whether you are restoring a metal product or applying a protective coating, you will achieve a professional look with minimal effort.
