ICONS monitoring

A monitoring module with a clamp ammeter that closes around one phase of the electric motor and tracks the running hours. It works on any brand of machine with a motor rated 2 to 30 kW. It sends the readings every 3 dny to the maker’s server, where you read them over the internet. Running it is free, with no licence fees.

How it works

The module measures the current in a motor phase and stores the running hours in its internal memory. On screw compressors it also tells when the machine runs loaded and when unloaded. It touches nothing in the machine’s controller — which is why the brand does not matter.

Fitting is a matter of minutes: the module closes around one phase of the electric motor and that is it. The module holds a SIM chip, so there is nothing to connect to a network and nothing to set up.

This is the cheapest way to stop walking to the compressor room just to copy down the running hours. It costs nothing to run and you fit it in a few minutes. If you have an Atlas Copco with an Mk4 or Mk5 controller, look instead at the version that connects straight to it — you also get pressures and temperatures.
