AAFA activated carbon compressed air filters
The AAFA activated carbon filter removes residual oil, oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours from the air. Residual oil after it is below 0.005 mg/m³, and the air meets class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
The AAFA filter comes in 15 sizes with G 1/4" to 3" threads and flows of 417 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the AAF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
AAFA filters by size
The size number is the flow in Nm³/h at 7 bar. Each filter has a spare element, connection kits and a housing without element for your own combination.

Sizes 25 and 30, 35 and 60, and 1500 and 1680 share the same element. Connection kits cover sizes up to 780. You will find the dimensions and weight on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
Activated carbon suits applications where oil vapours and odours, which a microfilter does not trap, are also a problem. It works up to +45 °C and must not be used in an oil-saturated environment.
Where to place it
Always after the AAFS microfilter. Only with it does solid particle class 1 apply, and the carbon does not receive oil droplets.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar, an ambient temperature of +20 °C and an air inlet temperature of +35 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Element, drain and maintenance
Element: activated carbon and borosilicate microfibres, pressure drop of a new element 60 mbar. Working temperature +1.5 to +45 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The bowl has an MCD manual drain. You will find other drains among the condensate drains for filters.
The activated carbon element is replaced by time: at least once every 6 months, earlier if the oil content is higher.
Spare elements for all stages are among the AAF elements; connection kits join the filters into a bank and fix them to the wall.

Carbon is replaced by the calendar. Replace the activated carbon element within 6 months at the latest, earlier if the oil content is higher.
- What does the activated carbon filter remove?
- Residual oil, oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours. Residual oil is below 0.005 mg/m³.
- Why must a microfilter go before it?
- Activated carbon must not work in an oil-saturated environment. The AAFS microfilter traps oil droplets, and only with it does solid particle class 1 apply.
- How often should the element be replaced?
- Within 6 months at the latest, earlier if the oil content is higher.
- What temperature can it withstand?
- From +1.5 to +45 °C.
