HFB high-pressure coarse filters with sintered element up to 50 bar
The HFB coarse filter has a sintered element and traps solid particles larger than 15 µm. It is the first filtration stage: it removes larger contaminants before they reach the finer stages, which then last longer.
The HFB filter comes in 9 sizes with G 1/2" to G 3" threads and flows of 1,183 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the HF high-pressure filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.

The size determines the thread and the flow. Each size has its own spare element.

When to use it
A coarse filter suits the start of the filtration, where larger contaminants from the compressor or the air line enter the air. On its own it achieves solid particle class 7; it does not trap oil or vapours.
Where to place it
At the start of the filtration, before the HFP basic filter or HFR dust filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air: at 50 bar, 6.38 times as much as at 7 bar.

Element, drain and maintenance
The housing holds a single element, a different one for each size — for example HFB-007V for the HFB-007. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 50 bar.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain. For pressures up to 50 bar, the AOK 50B and AOK 50SS float drains are suitable; they work reliably from 10 bar.
Replace the element at least once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar. The pressure drop is shown by the MDHI 50 differential pressure gauge.

A coarse filter spares the fine ones. When larger contaminants break loose in the air line, the B sintered element traps them, and the fine elements after it do not clog so quickly.
- What rating does the HFB coarse filter have?
- 15 µm, solid particle class 7 according to ISO 8573-1.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No. For oil, there are the HFM fine pre-filters and HFS microfilters.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar.
