AAFM compressed air fine pre-filters for particles and oil
The AAFM fine pre-filter is a coalescing filter for fine solid contaminants, water and oil. The borosilicate microfibre element traps particles larger than 0.1 µm and merges tiny oil droplets into larger ones, which run down into the bowl. Residual oil is below 0.1 mg/m³.
The AAFM filter comes in 15 sizes with G 1/4" to 3" threads and flows of 417 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the AAF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
AAFM filters by size
The size number is the flow in Nm³/h at 7 bar. Each filter has a spare element, connection kits and a housing without element for your own combination.

When to use it
The AAFM fine pre-filter suits applications where oil in the air is a problem and class 2 for particles and oil is enough. For the highest purity, 1-x-1, there is the AAFS microfilter, and the AAFM fine pre-filter goes before it.
Where to place it
After the AAFR dust filter, before the AAFS microfilter or activated carbon.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar, an ambient temperature of +20 °C and an air inlet temperature of +35 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Element, drain and maintenance
Element: borosilicate microfibres, pressure drop of a new element 50 mbar. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The AOK16B float drain releases the condensate from the bowl on its own. You will find other drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the element at a pressure drop of 350 mbar, at the latest every 12 months or 4,000 operating hours. Clogging is shown by the indicator or differential pressure gauge on the filter head.
Spare elements for all stages are among the AAF elements; connection kits join the filters into a bank and fix them to the wall.

Ventilek’s tip
A fine pre-filter protects the microfilter. The AAFS microfilter element after it then only deals with the finest particles. A coarser stage should come before the fine pre-filter itself so that dust does not clog it.
- What purity does the AAFM fine pre-filter provide?
- Particles down to 0.1 µm and residual oil below 0.1 mg/m³, class 2-x-2 according to ISO 8573-1.
- How is the oil drained from it?
- Oil and water droplets run down into the bowl, and the AOK16B float drain releases them.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At a pressure drop of 350 mbar, at the latest after 12 months or 4,000 operating hours.
