Proportional pressure regulator DRPA 1/8", 0-10 bar, 0-10 V
Code: DRPA18-10Related products
Product detailed description
The DRPA18-10 proportional regulator by AirCom sets the pressure of compressed air from 0 to 10 bar according to a 0–10 V electrical signal: 0 V means 0 bar, 10 V the upper limit of 10 bar. It works as a 3/2-way poppet valve with a proportional solenoid and digital control – it adds air to the outlet and releases it at the same flow rate, and consumes no air itself. A pressure sensor at the outlet constantly monitors and corrects the pressure.
The same regulator for a 4–20 mA signal: DRPA18-10-E20. You will find other sizes and series in the category proportional pressure regulators controlled by an electrical signal.

Dimensions and characteristic

The outlet pressure rises evenly with the signal: for DRPA18-10, 5 V corresponds to a pressure of 5 bar and 10 V to a pressure of 10 bar.

Electrical connection and installation
- power supply 24 V DC ±10 %, current consumption max. 500 mA
- 5-pin M12 connector (A-coded); an angled socket for your own cable is included
- control signal 0–10 V
- install a compressed air filter upstream of the regulator – filtration to 50 µm is sufficient, it also handles lubricated air
- keep the inlet pressure at least 10 % above the highest pressure being set and do not exceed the stated value
- if the signal is on and there is no pressure at the inlet, the valve heats up – the manufacturer recommends monitoring the pressure with a pressure switch
- mounting in any position, preferably vertical
Accessories
Setting the control parameters and monitoring the pressure from a computer: software with RS-232 converter DRPAANALYSE. For a higher flow rate, connect the regulator as a pilot regulator for remote-controlled DRI regulators.

DRPA: inlet pressure max. 12 bar (0–12 bar range 14 bar, 0–16 bar 18 bar), flow at 6 bar inlet and 5 bar outlet, 24 V DC supply, M12 connector; the 0–6 bar range only with a 0–10 V signal.
How to choose and connect an AirCom regulator
1. Manual or electric setting
An RPM regulator holds a constant low pressure that you set once by hand. If the machine control system is to change the pressure, choose a DRPA proportional regulator.
2. Range and size
Choose the smallest range that your pressure fits into – the setting will be finer. Choose the size by the flow in the table above. Mind the units: 1 bar = 1,000 mbar.
3. Prepare the air
Install a compressed air filter upstream of the regulator. The DRPA works with lubricated and non-lubricated air filtered to 50 µm; keep the inlet pressure at least 10 % above the highest pressure to be set.
4. Connect and set
Connect the regulator according to the arrow on the body. On the RPM always set the pressure upwards and lock it with the lock nut. Connect the DRPA via the M12 connector to the 24 V DC supply and the control signal.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between RPM and DRPA?
- The RPM holds a constant low pressure from 5 to 1500 mbar that you set by hand. The DRPA sets a pressure of 0 to 16 bar according to an electric signal from the control system and constantly monitors the outlet pressure with a sensor.
- Does the RPM regulator come with a pressure gauge?
- Yes, a ⌀ 63 mm pressure gauge with a scale matching the range is included. It screws into one of the two G 1/4" side ports.
- Do I need software for the DRPA?
- No, the regulator is factory-set. The software with RS-232 converter is useful if you want to change the zero point, range, ramp or control parameters, monitor the pressure curve or troubleshoot.
- What does the DRPA do if the signal or supply fails?
- It exhausts the outlet. It fills and exhausts the outlet with the same flow and consumes no air itself.
- What does the manufacturer call these regulators?
- The RPM 12 corresponds to type AirCom R161-04, the RPM 10 to type R160-08 and the DRPA to the PP series (proportional regulators with digital control). The full RPM type designation is on each regulator’s product page.
- Where can I find all regulators?
- RPM regulators are in the category RPM low-pressure regulators, DRPA in the category proportional pressure regulators – together with other proportional regulators.
