3/2 NC
3/2 valves in the NC (normally closed) version keep the supply shut and the outlet vented at rest — pressure only reaches the outlet once the valve is switched. This is the safest choice wherever equipment must stay depressurised if the signal or the power fails.
The valve designation reads like a fraction: the first number is the count of ports, the second the count of spool positions. Choose the actuation and reset method to match your control system — a solenoid suits electrical control, an air pilot signal works where electricity is unwelcome. Also check the port thread, the coil voltage and the flow you need.
