5/2 solenoid / spring
Monostable 5/2 valves with a single solenoid and a return spring go back to their home position by themselves once the signal drops. They are the first choice wherever a machine must fall safely into a defined state on power loss.
The valve designation reads like a fraction: the first number is the count of ports, the second the count of spool positions. Choose the actuation and reset method to match your control system — a solenoid suits electrical control, an air pilot signal works where electricity is unwelcome. Also check the port thread, the coil voltage and the flow you need.
