    Mobile compressor ABAC V36

    Mobile compressor ABAC V36-2.2-50CM — V-twin pump on a blue 50 l tank, gauges and handleV-twin 2.2 kW · 50 l · 230 V

The V36 is the most powerful mobile compressor in the ABAC Line range that still runs from an ordinary socket: a direct-drive V-twin pump, 2.2 kW and 355 l/min air displacement on a 50-litre tank with two wheels and two handles. Two cylinders instead of one mean more air for the same power input — an impact wrench, a nailer or a blow gun will not slow it down. The only model, the V36-2.2-50CM, is in stock; we service the ABAC brand.

Who the V36 is for — and who it is not

One machine, three questions. If you answer ‘yes’ to all of them, this is your compressor.

Do you want the most from a single socket?

The V36 takes 2.2 kW from a single-phase 230 V supply (9 A) and turns it into 355 l/min of displacement — more than single-cylinder machines with the same motor. Two cylinders share the work, each has its own intake filter, and the tank fills to 10 bar in less time. If you have a three-phase socket in the workshop you can go bigger; if not, the V36 is the ceiling of what an ordinary supply will give you.

Will it travel, or stay put?

Forty-two kilos on two rubber-tyred wheels with a tubular handle — you wheel it around the workshop or the site like a barrow, and two of you lift it into the van by the handle and the lifting eye on the front of the tank. The horizontal tank keeps the centre of gravity low and the rubber foot at the front damps vibration. It will sit against the wall too, but then you are also paying for the wheels and handles.

An hour at a time, or all day?

The machine is built for intermittent duty S3 50%: no more than five minutes' running in any ten. Tightening, nailing, inflating, blowing off and sanding with breaks all fit that pattern; a whole day of sanding or spraying without a pause does not. For that you want a machine with a bigger tank and a low-speed pump.

Air displacement is the volume the pump draws in; on the V36 the free air delivery (FAD) is 277 l/min — the air you actually get into the hose. Noise Lwa is the sound power level; at 4 m from the machine that corresponds to roughly 77 dB sound pressure. All three run on 230 V / 50 Hz and give 10 bar.

    Twin-cylinder direct-drive compressor — what is inside

    V36 pump: two cylinders in a V

Two finned cylinders set in a V, each with its own intake filter; the heads are cooled by the airflow from the motor fan. Piston diameter 47 mm, single stage, oil capacity roughly half a litre. Compared with a single-cylinder pump on the same motor it gives roughly 15% more air.

    Direct drive, 2,850 rpm

The pump crankshaft sits directly on the motor shaft — no belt, no tensioning, nothing to replace. The motor is a single-phase 230 V unit with thermal overload protection and a start capacitor, IP 32 rated. The high-speed pump is 18 kg lighter than the low-speed V30 with the same output.

    Pressure switch, regulator, two gauges

The red knob on the switch turns the machine on; the switch then cuts out at 10 bar and cuts back in as the tank pressure drops. The regulator sets the outlet pressure for the tool, one gauge shows the tank, the other the outlet; the air leaves through a DN 7.2 quick coupling — the same standard as every hose and gun in our range.

    50 l tank on wheels

A horizontal 50 l tank with a condensate drain valve underneath, two rubber-tyred wheels at the back and a rubber foot at the front. A tubular handle with a rubber grip for pushing, a solid lifting eye on the front of the tank for a two-person lift. The tank carries a QR code for the AirTube app with the manufacturer's service videos.

    Where the V36 works

    Garage

A garage compressor that will run an impact wrench on the wheel nuts, top up tyres, blow down the engine and, for small spray jobs with an HVLP gun, hold its pressure thanks to the fifty litres in the tank. It stands against the wall and wheels out to the car.

    Workshop and assembly

Stapling, nailing, a ratchet wrench, an air screwdriver, blowing off sawdust — tools that take air in short bursts, for which 277 l/min FAD leaves plenty in reserve. Sanding with an orbital sander it handles with breaks, as the S3 50% duty cycle demands.

    Site and trades

It goes to site in the van and you push it around by the handle; it runs from a 230 V extension lead, as long as the lead is short and of a heavy enough gauge. For a roofer with a nailer, a dryliner with a stapler or a fitter with an impact wrench it is a machine for the whole job.

    Oil, accessories and service

The V36 pump takes ALTAIR mineral oil; the capacity is roughly half a litre, so a one-litre bottle covers two changes. The DN 7.2 quick coupling is the same standard as the hoses, guns and tools in our whole range. ABAC belongs to the Atlas Copco group and is one of the brands we repair in our own service workshop.

    • ALTAIR ALTP-1 oil — The specified mineral oil for ABAC piston pumps, 1 l bottle.
    • pressure regulator with filter — Filter and water separator ahead of a spray gun or a sensitive tool.
    • spiral hoses — Hoses with DN 7.2 quick couplings from the machine to the tool.
    • impact wrenches — Wheels, chassis, bolts — the short-burst draw the V36 is built for.
    • spray guns — Spraying smaller areas from the 50 l tank, with pauses to rebuild pressure.
    • ABAC compressor service — Warranty and post-warranty repairs of ABAC machines in our workshop.

Where next if the V36 is not the right fit

The V36 is a machine for plenty of air from one socket, on wheels and with breaks between jobs. If you need non-stop running, less weight or a lower price, there are alternatives in the ABAC Line range and beyond. You will find the whole range, with filters by power, tank and voltage, under compressors.

    • low-speed ABAC V30 compressors — Same brand, half the speed: a heavier cast-iron pump for more hours of running, with 20, 50 and 90 l tanks or 2×11 l.
    • L25P and L30PN oil-lubricated compressors — Single-cylinder 1.8 and 2.2 kW machines with a 24, 50 or 90 l tank — lighter, with less displacement.
    • ABAC L20N compressors with 1.5 kW — The lightest oil-lubricated ABAC range: 14 to 33 kg, for inflating, blowing off and stapling.
    • the whole ABAC Line trade range — An overview of all the Line ranges, from the suitcase to the V-twin.
    • twin-cylinder compressors of all brands — All the twin-cylinder machines in our range, the V36 among them.
    • compressors with a 50 l tank — Fifty-litre machines across brands, when tank size is what matters.
    • 230 V compressors — Everything that runs from an ordinary socket — from the suitcase to silenced machines.
    • semi-professional workshop compressors — Machines for daily work in the workshop across brands, including three-phase models.
    • small Black Wind compressors — Cheaper single-cylinder machines with a 6–50 l tank for home use, when you do not need 355 l/min.

    Ventilek advises

Buy the V36 for the two cylinders — not for the word ‘mobile’. Any compressor can have wheels. What sets the V36 apart from single-cylinder machines with the same motor is 355 l/min from one socket: the impact wrench does not wait and the nailer does not fire blanks. What it is not is quiet, and it is not an all-day machine — it is built for five minutes out of ten. If you sand from morning till night, look at the V30 or at a machine with a bigger tank; if you need plenty of air in bursts and in more than one place, you have just found it.

    Frequently asked questions

Which compressor for a garage — is the V36 with 50 l and 10 bar enough?
For a garage it is one of the most sensible choices: it runs from an ordinary socket, wheels out to the car, and 277 l/min FAD will handle an impact wrench on the wheel nuts, a tyre inflator and a blow gun without keeping you waiting. Fifty litres in the tank smooth out the bursts, so the motor does not cut in at every pull of the trigger. For small spray jobs with an HVLP gun it is enough with breaks; a whole car body without a pause would want a bigger tank.
Will the V36 run a spray gun, a nailer or an orbital sander?
A nailer, a stapler, an impact wrench and a ratchet wrench, blowing off and inflating — yes, without restriction: they take air in bursts and the tank evens them out. A spray gun and an orbital sander draw air continuously, in the region of 200 to 300 l/min, which is close to the 277 l/min FAD: they work, but the machine runs almost non-stop behind them and the S3 50% duty cycle calls for pauses. If you sand or spray all afternoon, you need a bigger tank and a low-speed pump.
Can the V36 be plugged into an ordinary socket without tripping the circuit breaker?
Yes — it is a single-phase 230 V / 50 Hz machine with a rated current of 9 A and thermal overload protection on the motor; an ordinary socket circuit on a 16 A breaker is enough. Starting is harder work than running: do not start it through a long, thin extension lead or on a circuit where a heater or a grinder is already running — the voltage drop at start-up is the usual reason for a tripped breaker, not the compressor itself.
    How loud is the V36?
The sound power level is 97 dB Lwa, which at four metres corresponds to roughly 77 dB sound pressure — the same as other high-speed direct-drive machines at 2,850 rpm. It is not a quiet compressor: in a house run it only briefly; in a workshop or on site it is the normal level.
What do 355 l/min displacement and 277 l/min FAD mean — how much air do I actually get?
Displacement is the volume the pistons draw in per minute — 355 l/min. Free air delivery (FAD), the air compressed to working pressure and actually delivered into the hose, is 277 l/min. Compare your tools against the FAD figure: an impact wrench needing 150 l/min has reserve; a sander needing 300 l/min will outrun the machine and the tank pressure will fall.
Which oil does the V36 take, and how often should it be changed?
The specified oil is ALTAIR mineral oil; the crankcase holds roughly half a litre, so a one-litre bottle covers two changes. You can see the level in the round sight glass on the crankcase — check it before every use. Change intervals and the procedure are shown in the manufacturer's videos once you scan the QR code on the tank with the AirTube app. After work, remember to open the valve under the tank and drain the condensate.
How does the V36 differ from the V30 and the L30PN with the same motor?
All three have 2.2 kW, 10 bar and a 50 l tank. The V36 is a V-twin at 2,850 rpm: the most air (355 l/min) at 42 kg. The V30 is a twin at 1,450 rpm with 330 l/min displacement — the whole machine is 18 kg heavier, and the low-speed pump is built for longer daily running. The L30PN is a single-cylinder machine at 2,850 rpm, 310 l/min and 37 kg — the lightest of the three, with the least air in reserve. On price, the V36 works out the best of the three.

All values apply to a 230 V / 50 Hz supply. The machine is built for intermittent duty S3 50%, not for continuous operation. Prices refer to the current offer; stock changes daily.
