AAFB compressed air coarse filters with sintered element

The AAFB coarse filter has a sintered brass element and traps solid particles larger than 15 µm. It is a coarse pre-filter: it removes larger contaminants before they reach the finer stages, which then last longer.
The AAFB filter comes in 13 sizes with G 1/4" to 3" threads and flows of 583 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the AAF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
AAFB filters by size
The size number is the flow in Nm³/h at 7 bar. Each filter has a spare element, connection kits and a housing without element for your own combination.

When to use it
A coarse filter suits the start of the filtration, where larger contaminants from the air line enter the air. On its own it achieves solid particle class 7; it does not trap oil or vapours.
Where to place it

After the cyclone separator and before the AAFP basic filter or AAFR dust filter. The B coarse filter comes in sizes from 35 upwards.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar, an ambient temperature of +20 °C and an air inlet temperature of +35 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Element, drain and maintenance

Element: sintered brass, pressure drop of a new element 20 mbar. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The AOK16B float drain releases the condensate from the bowl on its own. You will find other drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the element according to the pressure drop on the indicator, at the latest every 12 months or 4,000 operating hours. Clogging is shown by the indicator or differential pressure gauge on the filter head.
Spare elements for all stages are among the AAF elements; connection kits join the filters into a bank and fix them to the wall.

Ventilek’s tip
A coarse filter spares the fine ones. When larger contaminants break loose in the air line, the B sintered element traps them, and the fine elements after it do not clog within a few weeks.
- What rating does the AAFB coarse filter have?
- 15 µm, solid particle class 7 according to ISO 8573-1.
- What is the element made of?
- Sintered brass.
- What sizes does it come in?
- In 13 sizes from 35 to 2760, with G 1/4" to 3" threads.
