AAFP basic compressed air filters
The AAFP basic filter is a pre-filter for solid contaminants and larger dust particles. The pleated element of acrylic fibres and cellulose traps particles larger than 3 µm, and the air meets solid particle class 6 according to ISO 8573-1.
The AAFP filter comes in 15 sizes with G 1/4" to 3" threads and flows of 417 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the AAF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
AAFP filters by size
The size number is the flow in Nm³/h at 7 bar. Each filter has a spare element, connection kits and a housing without element for your own combination.

When to use it
A basic filter is enough where the main concern is dust and dirt and oil in the air does not matter. As a pre-filter, it protects the finer stages after it.
The pressure drop of a new element is only 10 mbar, the lowest in the whole range.
Where to place it
After the AAFB coarse filter or directly after the separator, before the AAFR dust filter and the microfilters.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar, an ambient temperature of +20 °C and an air inlet temperature of +35 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Element, drain and maintenance
Element: acrylic fibres and cellulose, pressure drop of a new element 10 mbar. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The AOK16B float drain releases the condensate from the bowl on its own. You will find other drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the element at a pressure drop of 350 mbar, at the latest every 12 months or 4,000 operating hours. Clogging is shown by the indicator or differential pressure gauge on the filter head.
Spare elements for all stages are among the AAF elements; connection kits join the filters into a bank and fix them to the wall.

Ventilek’s tip
For dust, the basic stage is enough. When the air does not have to be oil-free, the AAFP filter with the lowest pressure drop in the range will do. For oil, add a fine pre-filter or microfilter.
- What rating does the AAFP basic filter have?
- 3 µm, solid particle class 6 according to ISO 8573-1.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No, the basic filter does not determine residual oil. For oil, there are the AAFM fine pre-filters and AAFS microfilters.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At a pressure drop of 350 mbar, at the latest after 12 months or 4,000 operating hours.
