BFS flanged compressed air microfilters, class 1-x-1

The BFS microfilter is the finest mechanical stage of the BF range. The coalescing borosilicate microfibre elements trap particles larger than 0.01 µm and remove oil down to a residual content below 0.01 mg/m³ — class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
The BFS filter comes in 10 sizes with DN80 to DN300 flanges and flows of 28,000 to 523,333 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the BF flanged filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the elements differ.
BFS filters by size
The size determines the flange, the flow and the number of elements. The element is the same for all sizes.

When to use it
The BFS microfilter suits all applications where the air must be very clean of particles and oil. It is also the mandatory stage before BFA activated carbon — only with it does its solid particle class 1 apply.
The BFM fine pre-filter, which traps particles and oil down to 0.1 µm, goes before the BFS microfilter — the microfilter elements then last longer.
Where to place it

After the BFM fine pre-filter, before the BFA activated carbon filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Elements, drain and maintenance

Element: borosilicate microfibres, pressure drop of a new element 80 / 190 mbar (dry / wetted). The air flows through it from the inside out. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain. You will find float, timed and electronic drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the elements at least once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar. The pressure drop is shown by the MDA 60 differential pressure gauge.
Spare elements BFS-0240V, drains and the gauge are in the accessories for BF filters.

Ventilek’s tip
No carbon without an S microfilter. The activated carbon after it only deals with vapours and odours. If it received oil droplets, it would quickly become saturated.
- What purity does the BFS microfilter provide?
- Particles down to 0.01 µm and residual oil below 0.01 mg/m³, class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
- What goes before the microfilter?
- The BFM fine pre-filter, so that the microfilter elements do not clog so quickly.
- Does it have to go before activated carbon?
- Yes. Solid particle class 1 for BFA activated carbon only applies when an S microfilter is installed before it.
