BFA flanged compressed air filters with activated carbon
The BFA activated carbon filter removes residual oil, oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours. The element contains 227 g of granular activated carbon; residual oil is below 0.005 mg/m³.
The BFA filter comes in 10 sizes with DN80 to DN300 flanges and flows of 28,000 to 523,333 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the BF flanged filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the elements differ.

The size determines the flange, the flow and the number of elements. The element is the same for all sizes.

When to use it
Activated carbon suits applications where oil vapours and odours, which a microfilter does not trap, are also a problem. It works up to +45 °C and must not be used in an oil-saturated environment.
Where to place it
Always after the BFS microfilter. Only with it does solid particle class 1 apply, and the carbon does not receive oil droplets.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Elements, drain and maintenance
Element: granular activated carbon and borosilicate microfibres, pressure drop of a new element 60 mbar. The air flows through it from the inside out. Working temperature +1.5 to +45 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain. You will find float, timed and electronic drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the activated carbon elements by time, within 6 months at the latest.

Carbon is replaced by the calendar. Replace the activated carbon elements within 6 months at the latest — unlike the other stages, they are not replaced according to the pressure drop.
- What does the activated carbon filter remove?
- Residual oil, oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours. Residual oil is below 0.005 mg/m³.
- Why must a microfilter go before it?
- Activated carbon must not work in an oil-saturated environment. The BFS microfilter traps oil droplets, and only with it does solid particle class 1 apply.
- How often should the elements be replaced?
- Within 6 months at the latest.
- What temperature can it withstand?
- From +1.5 to +45 °C.
