Hankison NGF PF dust filters and pre-filters
The PF dust filter has a double depth filter layer and traps solid particles larger than 1 µm with an efficiency of 99.999%. It also separates large amounts of liquid; residual oil is 2 mg/m³.
The PF filter comes in 14 sizes, F02 to F17, with G 1/4" to G 3" threads and flows of 566 to 42,483 l/min. It is one of the five stages of the Hankison NGF filters — the housing is the same for all stages; only the element with its coloured end cap differs (white).

When to use it
The PF dust filter suits use as a general workshop air filter and above all as a pre-filter before HF and UF microfilters: it traps particles and liquid, so the microfilter elements after it last longer.
After an adsorption dryer, it serves as a dust filter that traps dust from the adsorbent before it enters the air line.
Where to place it
After the SF basic filter or at the start of the filtration, before the HF microfilter or UF microfilter — or after an adsorption dryer.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they change according to the correction factor: at a lower pressure the filter passes less air, at a higher pressure more. Sizes F13 to F17 work up to 11 bar.

Sizes
The smallest filter, F02, is 205.5 mm tall, the largest, F17, 1,085.1 mm. You will find the width, height, connection axis and the clearance below the filter for element replacement on the product page of each size.
Element and maintenance
The housing holds one element, a different one for each size — for example PF-06 for the F06-B-PF. The coloured end cap of the element identifies the filtration stage, so elements cannot be mixed up during replacement.
The pressure drop of a new element is 40 mbar dry and 100 mbar wet.
Replace the element after 6,000 operating hours, within 12 months at the latest, or at a pressure drop of 400 mbar.
Housing
The housing is die-cast aluminium, chromated and protected by a powder coating. The element hangs in the filter head, and air enters it through the shaped Venturi-Wave end cap without turbulence; the bowl has internal ribs along which the condensate runs down.

The filter is supplied with an element, a pressure drop indicator on the head and an automatic condensate drain depending on the size:

Ventilek’s tip
A pre-filter spares the microfilter. HF and UF microfilters should be preceded by a PF dust filter. It traps coarser contaminants and liquid, and the fine microfilter element then only deals with the finest particles.
- What rating does the PF dust filter have?
- 1 µm, particle removal efficiency 99.999%, solid particle class 2 according to ISO 8573-1.
- Why is it a pre-filter?
- The manufacturer specifies it as a pre-filter for HF and UF microfilters and as a dust filter after adsorption dryers.
- When should the element be replaced?
- After 6,000 operating hours, within 12 months at the latest, or at a pressure drop of 400 mbar.
