Hankison NGF HF microfilters for particles and oil
The HF microfilter is a high-efficiency coalescing filter for oil aerosol. It traps solid and liquid particles larger than 0.01 µm and removes over 99.9% of oil; residual oil is below 0.01 mg/m³.
The HF filter comes in 14 sizes, F02 to F17, with G 1/4" to G 3" threads and flows of 566 to 42,483 l/min. It is one of the five stages of the Hankison NGF filters — the housing is the same for all stages; only the element with its coloured end cap differs (green).
HF filters by size
The size determines the thread, the flow and the element. Each size has its own spare element.

When to use it
The HF microfilter suits all places where oil in the air is a problem: at the end of the air line before the point of use, as an oil coalescing filter and as a pre-filter before a membrane or adsorption dryer.
It works in two stages — first it separates liquid, then oil droplets. A PF dust filter should go before it so that its element does not clog so quickly.
Where to place it
After the PF dust filter, before CF activated carbon or before a dryer.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they change according to the correction factor: at a lower pressure the filter passes less air, at a higher pressure more. Sizes F13 to F17 work up to 11 bar.

Sizes
The smallest filter, F02, is 205.5 mm tall, the largest, F17, 1,085.1 mm. You will find the width, height, connection axis and the clearance below the filter for element replacement on the product page of each size.
Element and maintenance
The housing holds one element, a different one for each size — for example HF-06 for the F06-B-HF. The coloured end cap of the element identifies the filtration stage, so elements cannot be mixed up during replacement.
The pressure drop of a new element is 40 mbar dry and 120 mbar wet.
Replace the element after 3,000 operating hours, within 12 months at the latest, or at a pressure drop of 400 mbar.
Housing
The housing is die-cast aluminium, chromated and protected by a powder coating. The element hangs in the filter head, and air enters it through the shaped Venturi-Wave end cap without turbulence; the bowl has internal ribs along which the condensate runs down.

The filter is supplied with an element, a pressure drop indicator on the head and an automatic condensate drain depending on the size:

A microfilter needs a pre-filter. Install a PF dust filter before the HF microfilter. It traps particles and liquid, and the microfilter element then lasts longer.

- Particles down to 0.01 µm and residual oil below 0.01 mg/m³, class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
- What goes before the microfilter?
- A PF dust filter, and with large amounts of condensate also an SF basic filter.
- When should the element be replaced?
- After 3,000 operating hours, within 12 months at the latest, or at a pressure drop of 400 mbar.
