HFM high-pressure fine pre-filters for particles and oil up to 50 bar
The HFM fine pre-filter is a coalescing filter for fine solid particles, water and oil aerosol. It traps particles larger than 0.1 µm and merges tiny oil droplets into larger ones; residual oil is below 0.1 mg/m³.
The HFM filter comes in 9 sizes with G 1/2" to G 3" threads and flows of 1,183 to 46,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the HF high-pressure filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.

The size determines the thread and the flow. Each size has its own spare element.

When to use it
The HFM fine pre-filter suits applications where oil in the air is a problem and class 2 for particles and oil is enough.
For the highest purity, 1-x-1, there is the HFS microfilter, and the HFM fine pre-filter goes before it: it traps most of the particles and oil, and the microfilter element then lasts longer.
Where to place it
After the HFR dust filter or HFP basic filter, before the HFS microfilter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air: at 50 bar, 6.38 times as much as at 7 bar.

Element, drain and maintenance
The housing holds a single element, a different one for each size — for example HFM-007V for the HFM-007. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 50 bar.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain. For pressures up to 50 bar, the AOK 50B and AOK 50SS float drains are suitable; they work reliably from 10 bar.
Replace the element at least once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar. The pressure drop is shown by the MDHI 50 differential pressure gauge.

Ventilek’s tip
A fine pre-filter protects the microfilter. The HFS microfilter element after it then only deals with the finest particles. A coarser stage should come before the fine pre-filter itself so that dust does not clog it.
- What purity does the HFM fine pre-filter provide?
- Particles down to 0.1 µm and residual oil below 0.1 mg/m³, class 2-x-2 according to ISO 8573-1.
- Why is it a pre-filter and not a microfilter?
- It is installed before the HFS microfilter and protects its element. The microfilter is stage S, with a rating of 0.01 µm.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar.
