Product detailed description

The AirCom RPM10-700 low-pressure regulator reduces the pressure of compressed air from the air network – 1 to 15 bar – to 15 to 700 mbar, i.e. 0.015 to 0.7 bar. The large diaphragm detects even a small change in pressure and keeps the outlet constant. A ⌀ 63 mm pressure gauge with a 0–1 bar scale is included.

Size RPM 10, connection G 1", flow rate 9,600 l/min, adjustment: T-handle with lock nut. It belongs to the series of RPM low-pressure regulators.

Dimensions

Dimensional drawing of the RPM 10 G 1" low-pressure regulator
RPM 10: A 154 mm (body length), B 292 mm (height), C 53 mm (from the connection axis to the bottom)

The diaphragm cover has a diameter of 245 mm. The pressure gauge is screwed in from the side into the G 1/4" connection.

Installation and adjustment

  • install a compressed air filter upstream of the regulator – the manufacturer recommends it; the internal strainer only provides protection during installation
  • blow out the pipework before installation; dirt would damage the valve seat
  • connect the regulator according to the arrow on the body (IN → OUT); any mounting position is possible; do not use lubricant during installation
  • screw the pressure gauge into one of the side connections G 1/4" and close the other one with the supplied plug
  • before pressurising for the first time, release the setting so that the spring is not tensioned; then always set the pressure by increasing it, i.e. from below
  • secure the setting with the lock nut

Accessories and spare parts

For higher pressure and high precision, there are FDR regulators (from 0.05 bar), and for 0–11 bar set on a scale MANO R dial regulators.

RPM: inlet pressure 1 to 15 bar, flow according to the manufacturer at 6 bar inlet and the highest outlet pressure of the range, pressure gauge ⌀ 63 mm included. DRPA: inlet pressure max. 12 bar (0–12 bar range 14 bar, 0–16 bar 18 bar), flow at 6 bar inlet and 5 bar outlet, 24 V DC supply, M12 connector; the 0–6 bar range only with a 0–10 V signal.

How to choose and connect an AirCom regulator

1. Manual or electric setting

An RPM regulator holds a constant low pressure that you set once by hand. If the machine control system is to change the pressure, choose a DRPA proportional regulator.

2. Range and size

Choose the smallest range that your pressure fits into – the setting will be finer. Choose the size by the flow in the table above. Mind the units: 1 bar = 1,000 mbar.

3. Prepare the air

Install a compressed air filter upstream of the regulator. The DRPA works with lubricated and non-lubricated air filtered to 50 µm; keep the inlet pressure at least 10 % above the highest pressure to be set.

4. Connect and set

Connect the regulator according to the arrow on the body. On the RPM always set the pressure upwards and lock it with the lock nut. Connect the DRPA via the M12 connector to the 24 V DC supply and the control signal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RPM and DRPA?
The RPM holds a constant low pressure from 5 to 1500 mbar that you set by hand. The DRPA sets a pressure of 0 to 16 bar according to an electric signal from the control system and constantly monitors the outlet pressure with a sensor.
Does the RPM regulator come with a pressure gauge?
Yes, a ⌀ 63 mm pressure gauge with a scale matching the range is included. It screws into one of the two G 1/4" side ports.
Do I need software for the DRPA?
No, the regulator is factory-set. The software with RS-232 converter is useful if you want to change the zero point, range, ramp or control parameters, monitor the pressure curve or troubleshoot.
What does the DRPA do if the signal or supply fails?
It exhausts the outlet. It fills and exhausts the outlet with the same flow and consumes no air itself.
What does the manufacturer call these regulators?
The RPM 12 corresponds to type AirCom R161-04, the RPM 10 to type R160-08 and the DRPA to the PP series (proportional regulators with digital control). The full RPM type designation is on each regulator’s product page.
Where can I find all regulators?
RPM regulators are in the category RPM low-pressure regulators, DRPA in the category proportional pressure regulators – together with other proportional regulators.
