Pressure vessels for oxygen from 500 to 5000 l

Vertical pressure vessels for oxygen from 500 to 5000 litres, rated for 11 and 12 bar. They are intended for oxygen and other group 1 fluids with the exception of hydrogen, and they withstand frost down to −20 °C.
They are made by the Italian Baglioni group from carbon steel to Directive 2014/68/EU on pressure equipment (PED). On the outside, they are protected by a white RAL 9010 powder coating, and on the inside by a baked ALM epoxy coating.
Oxygen series versus vessels down to −20 °C
White paint and ALM coating
The oxygen vessels always have white RAL 9010 paint on the outside and an ALM epoxy coating on the inside. The series rated down to −20 °C is made in blue paint, galvanised or with the ALM coating.
From 500 litres
The oxygen series starts with a 500 l vessel rated for 11 bar; the other sizes are rated for 12 bar. You will also find vessels from 1000 to 10000 l among our pressure vessels down to −20 °C and for group 1 fluids.
For frosty conditions
The 500 l vessel withstands −20 to +50 °C, and the larger ones −20 to +80 °C. You can also install them outdoors or in an unheated hall.
All sizes
You will find vessels of each volume across all categories on the pages for 500 l, 1000 l, 1500 l, 2000 l, 3000 l, 4000 l and 5000 l.

Connection numbers correspond to the drawing; a dash means that a vessel of that size does not have the connection. Ground clearance A is measured from the floor to the bottom connection, B is the height of connections 2 and 3, and C the height of connections 6 and 7; the 4000 and 5000 l vessels only have connection 7 at height C.

Typical uses
- Oxygen reservoir. The vessel holds a reserve of oxygen downstream of a generator or in the pipework, and it covers peaks in demand at the workstations.
- Group 1 fluids. Besides oxygen, the vessels are also intended for other group 1 fluids, but not for hydrogen.
- Outdoors and in the cold. The working temperature starts at −20 °C, so the vessel can also stand in areas that are not heated.
- Food processing. The ALM internal epoxy coating is approved for contact with food.
The vessels are not intended for hydrogen. For compressed air, choose standard air receivers.
Fittings and pipework for oxygen
The vessels are supplied without fittings. Stricter cleanliness rules apply to oxygen than to compressed air.
No oil or grease
Oil or grease can ignite in oxygen. All parts that come into contact with oxygen must be clean and free of any traces of oil.
Fittings for oxygen
Choose a safety valve, a pressure gauge and shut-off valves that are expressly designed for oxygen. The safety valve must open at no more than the vessel’s pressure rating.
Hoses for oxygen
For the distribution system, use hoses designed for oxygen, for example GOX pressure hoses for oxygen.
Transport and installation
The vessels weigh 116 to 962 kg and travel lying flat. On site, they are stood upright with a crane or a forklift; you will find the transport dimensions of each size on its product page.
The base must carry the weight concentrated on the foot plates. Vibration dampers belong under the foot plates, and the vessel is not rigidly anchored to the floor or to any structure.
Documents and inspections
The vessels are manufactured to Directive 2014/68/EU on pressure equipment (PED) and bear the CE marking. They come with a declaration of conformity stating their data-plate details, together with the instructions for use and maintenance.
Manufacture follows the European directive, and the declaration of conformity is valid throughout the EU. In-service inspections, however, are set by each country. In the Czech Republic, the operator must have the vessels inspected regularly: an operational inspection once a year, an internal inspection every five years and a pressure test roughly every nine to ten years. Elsewhere, local regulations apply. You will find the details in our article on operator obligations under Czech regulations.
How the vessels are made
The vessels are made by the Italian Baglioni group. The shell is rolled from sheet steel and the seams are made by automatic welding, while the legs and sockets are welded on separately. The inside is chemically washed and pickled, sprayed with the ALM epoxy coating and baked; on the outside, the vessel receives a white RAL 9010 powder coating.

Versions on request
On request, the manufacturer can also supply a horizontal version, a 100 × 150 mm handhole, a 300 × 400 mm manhole or flanged connections.

For compressed air, see our pressure vessels from 1000 to 3000 l, and the whole range is shown in our overview of pressure vessels.
Ventilek’s tip
Never mix oxygen and oil. Even a small trace of oil or grease can ignite in oxygen. Make sure the vessel, the fittings and the pipework are clean when you install them, and use only parts designed for oxygen.
- Which gases are the vessels intended for?
- For oxygen and other group 1 fluids, except hydrogen.
- What is the working temperature?
- The 500 l vessel withstands −20 to +50 °C, and the 1000 to 5000 l vessels −20 to +80 °C.
- How do they differ from the vessels rated down to −20 °C?
- The oxygen series always has white RAL 9010 paint and the ALM internal coating, and it starts at a volume of 500 l. The 1000 to 3000 l vessels have the same dimensions and connections as the 12-bar vessels rated down to −20 °C.
- Which fittings go with the vessel?
- A safety valve, a pressure gauge and shut-off valves designed for oxygen, clean and free of oil. The vessels are supplied without fittings.
- Does the vessel have an inspection opening?
- Not as standard; all connections are threaded. The manufacturer can supply a handhole or a manhole on request.
- How is the vessel transported?
- Lying flat. On site, it is stood upright with a crane or a forklift.
