BFB flanged compressed air coarse filters with sintered element
The BFB coarse filter has sintered brass elements and traps solid particles larger than 15 µm. It is a coarse pre-filter: it removes larger contaminants before they reach the finer stages, which then last longer.
The BFB filter comes in 10 sizes with DN80 to DN300 flanges and flows of 28,000 to 523,333 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stages of the BF flanged filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the elements differ.

The size determines the flange, the flow and the number of elements. The element is the same for all sizes.

When to use it
A coarse filter suits the start of the filtration, where larger contaminants from the air line enter the air. On its own it achieves solid particle class 7; it does not trap oil or vapours.
The sintered element can be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath or by back-flushing; how often depends on the operation. When cleaning is no longer enough, it is replaced with a new one.
Where to place it
At the start of the filtration, before the BFP basic filter or BFR dust filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, the flow changes according to the correction factor.

Elements, drain and maintenance
Element: sintered brass, pressure drop of a new element 20 mbar. The air flows through it from the inside out. Working temperature +1.5 to +65 °C, pressure up to 16 bar.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain. You will find float, timed and electronic drains among the condensate drains for filters.
Replace the elements once a year or at a pressure drop of 350 mbar. The pressure drop is shown by the MDA 60 differential pressure gauge.

A coarse filter spares the fine ones. When larger contaminants break loose in the air line, the B sintered element traps them, and the fine elements after it do not clog so quickly.
