SPFN5 stainless steel basic mesh filters up to 14 bar
The SPFN5 basic filter has a wrapped element made of stainless steel mesh 1.4301 and traps solid particles larger than 5 µm.
The SPFN5 filter comes in 12 sizes (G 1/4" to 3") with flows of 1,250 to 60,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 14 bar. It is one of the stages of the SPF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.

The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

When to use it
The basic filter is enough where the main concern is solid contaminants and oil in the air is not a problem. It most often serves as a pre-filter before finer stages, which then last longer. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
Like the housing, the stainless steel mesh withstands up to +150 °C.
Where to place it
After the SPFN25 coarse filter or directly at the start of the filtration, before the SPFI1 sintered pre-filter or the SPFM fine pre-filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they are multiplied by the correction factor: 1.88 at 14 bar.

Element and maintenance
A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFN5-010V for the SPFN5-010. The same element also fits the PF, WFIT and WFIF process filters of the same size. The working temperature of the element is +1.5 to +150 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. You will find all elements among the PF range spare elements.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage N5 also comes in process filters: PFN5 up to 14 bar, WFITN5 up to 14 bar and WFIFN5 up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
A mesh is enough for contaminants. When the air does not have to be oil-free, the N5 stainless steel mesh is enough. For oil aerosol, add the fine pre-filter M.
- What filtration rating does the SPFN5 basic filter have?
- The mesh traps particles larger than 5 µm. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
- Is it a sterile filter?
- No. Only the SF element at the end of the filtration is sterile; the N5 mesh traps solid contaminants.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
