PFN5 stainless steel basic mesh filters up to 14 bar
The PFN5 basic filter has a wrapped element made of stainless steel mesh 1.4301 and traps solid particles larger than 5 µm.
The PFN5 filter comes in 18 sizes (G 1/4" to DN200) with flows of 1,250 to 352,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 14 bar, sizes from DN100 up to 10 bar. It is one of the stages of the PF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.

When to use it
The basic filter is enough where the main concern is solid contaminants and oil in the air is not a problem. It most often serves as a pre-filter before finer stages, which then last longer. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
Like the housing, the stainless steel mesh withstands up to +150 °C.
Where to place it
After the PFN25 coarse filter or directly at the start of the filtration, before the PFI1 sintered pre-filter or the PFM fine pre-filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they are multiplied by the correction factor: 1.88 at 14 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance
A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFN5-010V for the PFN5-010. The same element also fits the WFITN5-010 and WFIFN5-010. Flanged filters from DN100 have several elements — their number is given in the table for each size. Element working temperature +1.5 to +150 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For PF filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK20SS stainless steel float drain up to 20 bar and +65 °C. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/4" thread, G 1" for the flanged sizes.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.

Stage N5 also comes in the WFITN5 filters up to 14 bar and WFIFN5 filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
A mesh is enough for contaminants. When the air does not have to be oil-free, the N5 stainless steel mesh is enough. For oil aerosol, add the fine pre-filter M.
- What filtration rating does the PFN5 basic filter have?
- The mesh traps particles larger than 5 µm. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No. Oil aerosol is handled by the fine pre-filter M.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
