WHFITC stainless steel cyclone separators up to 50 bar

The WHFITC cyclone separator is the first stage of the WHFIT range. Instead of a filter element, its stainless steel housing holds a cyclone element that separates condensate droplets — water and oil droplets — from the air before they reach the elements after it.
The WHFITC separator comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, but instead of an element it has a cyclone element.
WHFITC separators by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own spare cyclone element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet; you will find further data on the product page of each separator.

When to use it
The cyclone separator is suitable at the start of the filtration where condensate droplets enter the air line. The separated condensate is drained at the bottom of the housing.
It does not trap fine solid particles or oil aerosol; the manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it. The cyclone element withstands +120 °C.
Where to place it

At the start of the filtration, before the WHFITN25 coarse filter or the WHFITI20 sintered pre-filter: the elements after it then do not get flooded with condensate as quickly.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Cyclone element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A cyclone element is fitted in the housing — for example, the WFC-010V for the WHFITC-010. The same cyclone element also fits the WFITC-010, WFIFC-010 and WFIWC-010. The cyclone element withstands +120 °C.
The separator is supplied with a cyclone element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Once a year, check the housing for visible damage.

The same stage in other ranges
Stage C also comes in the WFITC separators up to 14 bar, WFIFC separators up to 14 bar and WFIWC separators up to 14 bar. The cyclone elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
Condensate first. When water droplets enter the air line, put the cyclone separator C at the start. The elements after it then do not get flooded as quickly.
- Does the WHFITC separator have a filter element?
- No. Instead of an element, it has a cyclone element that separates condensate droplets from the air.
- Does it also trap fine particles?
- No. Solid particles are handled by the meshes and pre-filters, oil aerosol by the fine pre-filter M.
- What temperature does the cyclone element withstand?
- Up to +120 °C.
