WHFITN25 stainless steel coarse mesh filters up to 50 bar

The WHFITN25 coarse filter has a wrapped element made of stainless steel mesh 1.4301 and traps solid particles larger than 25 µm. It is the first filtration stage: it removes larger contaminants before they reach the finer stages, which then last longer.
The WHFITN25 filter comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
WHFITN25 filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet; you will find further data on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
The coarse filter is suitable at the start of the filtration, where larger contaminants from the compressor or the air line enter the air. It does not trap oil or vapours; the manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
Like the housing, the stainless steel mesh withstands up to +150 °C.
Where to place it

After the WHFITC cyclone separator or at the start of the filtration, before the WHFITI20 sintered pre-filter or the WHFITN5 basic filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFN25-010V for the WHFITN25-010. The same element also fits the PFN25-010, HPFN25-010, WFITN25-010, WFIFN25-010 and WFIWN25-010. Element working temperature +1.5 to +150 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage N25 also comes in the PFN25 filters up to 14 bar, HPFN25 filters up to 50 bar, WFITN25 filters up to 14 bar, WFIFN25 filters up to 14 bar and WFIWN25 filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
A coarse mesh protects the fine ones. When larger contaminants come loose in the air line, the N25 stainless steel mesh traps them, and the fine elements after it do not clog as quickly.
- What filtration rating does the WHFITN25 coarse filter have?
- The mesh traps particles larger than 25 µm. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No. Oil aerosol is handled by the fine pre-filter M.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
