WHFITI20 sintered stainless steel pre-filters up to 50 bar

The WHFITI20 sintered pre-filter has an element made of sintered stainless steel 1.4404 and traps solid particles larger than 20 µm. It goes at the start of the filtration in the WHFIT range: it protects the finer stages after it.
The WHFITI20 filter comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
WHFITI20 filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet; you will find further data on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
The 20 µm sintered pre-filter is suitable at the start of the filtration. The element is made entirely of stainless steel and, like the housing, withstands up to +150 °C. It does not trap oil; the manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
Where to place it

At the start of the filtration or after the WHFITN25 coarse filter, before the WHFITN5 basic filter or the WHFITM fine pre-filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFI20-010V for the WHFITI20-010. The same element also fits the PFI20-010, HPFI20-010, WFITI20-010, WFIFI20-010 and WFIWI20-010. Element working temperature +1.5 to +150 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.
Accessories for WHFITI20 filters

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage I20 also comes in the PFI20 filters up to 14 bar, HPFI20 filters up to 50 bar, WFITI20 filters up to 14 bar, WFIFI20 filters up to 14 bar and WFIWI20 filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
Coarse contaminants first. The sintered pre-filter I20 traps larger particles before they reach the fine pre-filter, whose element then lasts longer.
- What filtration rating does the WHFITI20 pre-filter have?
- The element traps particles larger than 20 µm. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No. Oil aerosol is handled by the fine pre-filter M.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
