WHFITN5 stainless steel basic mesh filters up to 50 bar

The WHFITN5 basic filter has a wrapped element made of stainless steel mesh 1.4301 and traps solid particles larger than 5 µm.
The WHFITN5 filter comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
WHFITN5 filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet; you will find further data on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
The basic filter is enough where the main concern is solid contaminants and oil in the air is not a problem. It most often serves as a pre-filter before finer stages, which then last longer. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
Like the housing, the stainless steel mesh withstands up to +150 °C.
Where to place it

After the WHFITN25 coarse filter or the WHFITI20 sintered pre-filter, or directly at the start of the filtration, before the WHFITP fibre pre-filter, the WHFITI1 sintered pre-filter or the WHFITM fine pre-filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFN5-010V for the WHFITN5-010. The same element also fits the PFN5-010, HPFN5-010, WFITN5-010, WFIFN5-010 and WFIWN5-010. Element working temperature +1.5 to +150 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage N5 also comes in the PFN5 filters up to 14 bar, HPFN5 filters up to 50 bar, WFITN5 filters up to 14 bar, WFIFN5 filters up to 14 bar and WFIWN5 filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
A mesh is enough for contaminants. When the air does not have to be oil-free, the N5 stainless steel mesh is enough. For oil aerosol, add the fine pre-filter M.
- What filtration rating does the WHFITN5 basic filter have?
- The mesh traps particles larger than 5 µm. The manufacturer does not state an ISO 8573-1 class for it.
- Does it also trap oil?
- No. Oil aerosol is handled by the fine pre-filter M.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
