WHFITM stainless fine pre-filters for particles and oil up to 50 bar

The WHFITM fine pre-filter traps fine solid particles larger than 0.1 µm, water and oil aerosol. The pleated element is made of borosilicate microfibres; residual oil is below 0.1 mg/m³ — class 2-x-2 according to ISO 8573-1.
The WHFITM filter comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
WHFITM filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

When to use it
The fine pre-filter M is suitable when oil in the air is a problem and class 2 for particles and oil is enough. The element withstands +120 °C.
A fine pre-filter always goes before a microfilter: it traps most of the particles and oil, and the microfilter element then lasts longer.
The element is a coalescing one: the air flows through it from the inside out, and the filter is mounted head up with the bowl down.
Where to place it

After the WHFITI1 sintered pre-filter, the WHFITR dust filter or the WHFITN5 basic filter, before the WHFITS microfilter: it protects its element, which then lasts longer.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFM-010V for the WHFITM-010. The same element also fits the PFM-010, HPFM-010, WFITM-010, WFIFM-010 and WFIWM-010. Element working temperature +1.5 to +120 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage M also comes in the PFM filters up to 14 bar, HPFM filters up to 50 bar, WFITM filters up to 14 bar, WFIFM filters up to 14 bar and WFIWM filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
The fine pre-filter protects the microfilter. The microfilter element after it then only deals with the finest particles. A coarser stage should go before the fine pre-filter itself so that it does not clog with dust.
- What purity does the WHFITM fine pre-filter achieve?
- Particles down to 0.1 µm and residual oil below 0.1 mg/m³, class 2-x-2 according to ISO 8573-1.
- Why is it a pre-filter and not a microfilter?
- It is installed before the microfilter S and protects its element. The microfilter is the S stage with a filtration rating of 0.01 µm.
- What temperature does it withstand?
- The element up to +120 °C.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
