WHFITS stainless steel compressed air microfilters up to 50 bar

The WHFITS microfilter is the finest mechanical stage of the WHFIT range. The pleated borosilicate microfibre element traps particles larger than 0.01 µm and removes oil down to a residual content below 0.01 mg/m³ — class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
The WHFITS filter comes in 8 sizes (G 1/2" to 3") with flows of 2,500 to 40,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 50 bar. It is one of the stages of the WHFIT filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
WHFITS filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet; you will find further data on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
The microfilter S is suitable wherever the air must be very clean of particles and oil. It is also a mandatory stage before activated carbon — only with it does activated carbon reach solid particle class 1.
A fine pre-filter M goes before the microfilter S; it traps particles and oil down to 0.1 µm, and the microfilter element then lasts longer. The element withstands +120 °C.
The element is a coalescing one: the air flows through it from the inside out, and the filter is mounted head up with the bowl down.
Where to place it

After the WHFITM fine pre-filter, which protects it. It can be followed by the WHFITA activated carbon.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a higher pressure the filter passes more air — 6.38 times as much at 50 bar.

Element, condensate drainage and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFS-010V for the WHFITS-010. The same element also fits the PFS-010, HPFS-010, WFITS-010, WFIFS-010 and WFIWS-010. Element working temperature +1.5 to +120 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. For WHFIT filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK50SS stainless steel float drain up to 50 bar, recommended from 10 bar, or the TD420M timed drain with a G 1/4" thread, and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.
Accessories for WHFITS filters

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage S also comes in the PFS filters up to 14 bar, HPFS filters up to 50 bar, WFITS filters up to 14 bar, WFIFS filters up to 14 bar and WFIWS filters up to 14 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
A microfilter needs a fine pre-filter. Install the fine pre-filter M before the microfilter S. The microfilter then only deals with the finest particles, and its element lasts longer.
- What purity does the WHFITS microfilter achieve?
- Particles down to 0.01 µm and residual oil below 0.01 mg/m³, class 1-x-1 according to ISO 8573-1.
- What goes before the microfilter?
- A fine pre-filter M, so that the microfilter element does not clog as quickly.
- How should the filter be mounted?
- Head up with the bowl down — the air flows through the coalescing element from the inside out.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
