The entry machine of the EPM2 range, set to seven bar. Below it the sister EPM range stops at forty-five kilowatts, so the 55 kW is the first step into a world where the compressor does not go in the corner of the hall but into a compressor room of its own.
Why 7 bar
At 7 bar it delivers up to 12,500 l/min and the inverter takes it down to 3,500. Moving to ten bar costs 16 % of the air and roughly a fifth of the consumption on top of that — on a 55 kW machine that is a sum you can see on the annual bill.

The dimensions of 1,900 × 1,350 × 1,650 mm, weight of 1,550 kg, DN 50 outlet and noise level of 76 dB(A) are identical across all three settings — it is one and the same machine.
How it differs from its neighbours
It shares its frame and footprint with the SCR-63/7EPM2, which adds 1,500 l/min for only 100 kg. The difference between them is therefore mainly price and output rather than room space — worth weighing up if production is set to grow.
What is inside
Permanent magnet motor
Above IE4 level, oil-cooled in a closed circuit and with no bearings. Against an ordinary IE2 motor it saves 5 to 6 % — on 55 kW running continuously that is a difference which pays for the servicing within a year.
Direct drive through a taper coupling
No belts, gearbox or coupling. Belt tensioning and replacement disappear — on a machine delivering 12,500 l/min they would mean shutting down the whole compressor room.
Frequency inverter
It regulates steplessly from 3,500 to 12,500 l/min, down to 28 % of output, and holds pressure to within ±0.1 bar. The starting current never exceeds the rated value.
New-generation airend
A rotor profile developed in Japan, multi-point oil injection, efficiency up to 16 % better than the previous generation. Service life over 100,000 hours.
SCR9000 controller
Touchscreen, weekly schedule, operating log and protection against overload and phase imbalance. It sequences up to sixteen compressors with no master panel.
What the machine needs in the compressor room
The ventilation required is 15,600 m³ an hour — a fixed figure on the smallest machine in the range, and in an enclosed compressor room it is often the limit before the compressor itself is. The outlet is flanged DN 50, so the pipework starts somewhere different than on the smaller screw machines, where it is still screwed together.

Before choosing, work through the comparison table for the whole SCR-EPM2 range — at this size what matters besides output is how much air the machine takes for cooling. Pick the receiver from the air receivers and the dryer from the air dryers. If 55 kW feels like a lot, start with the SCR-EPM range.
Fifteen and a half thousand cubic metres of ventilation an hour is no small thing. Before you settle on a machine, check that the compressor room has something to breathe through.
