SPFA stainless steel activated carbon filters up to 14 bar

The SPFA activated carbon filter removes oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours that the mechanical stages do not trap. The wrapped element is made of borosilicate microfibres with activated carbon and works up to +45 °C.
The SPFA filter comes in 12 sizes (G 1/4" to 3") with flows of 1,250 to 60,000 l/min at 7 bar; working pressure up to 14 bar. It is one of the twelve stages of the SPF filters — the housing is the same for all stages, only the element differs.
SPFA filters by size
The size determines the connection and the flow. Each size has its own PF range spare element.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. Dimensions and weights according to the manufacturer; you will find further data on the product page of each filter.

When to use it
Activated carbon is suitable where oil vapours and odours that a microfilter does not trap are also a problem. It works up to +45 °C and must not be used in an oil-saturated environment.
Class 1 for solid particles and oil only applies when a microfilter S is installed before it.
Where to place it

After the SPFM fine pre-filter and the SPFS microfilter, before the SPFSF sterile filter.
Flow by pressure
The catalogue flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they are multiplied by the correction factor: 1.88 at 14 bar.

Element and maintenance

A PF range element is fitted in the housing — for example, the PFA-010V for the SPFA-010. The same element also fits the PF, HPF, WFIT, WFIF, WFIW and WHFIT process filters of the same size. The working temperature of the element is +1.5 to +45 °C.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain. You will find all elements among the PF range spare elements.
Replace the element at least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.
The same stage in other ranges
Stage A also comes in process filters: PFA up to 14 bar, HPFA up to 50 bar, WFITA up to 14 bar, WFIFA up to 14 bar, WFIWA up to 14 bar and WHFITA up to 50 bar. The elements are the same for all ranges.
Ventilek’s tip
Carbon only up to +45 °C. The housing withstands +150 °C, but the activated carbon element only +45 °C — warmer air must first be cooled before it.
- What does the activated carbon filter remove?
- Oil vapours, hydrocarbons and odours that the mechanical stages do not trap.
- Why must a microfilter be installed before it?
- Activated carbon must not work in an oil-saturated environment. The microfilter S traps oil droplets, and only with it does solid particle class 1 apply.
- What temperature does it withstand?
- From +1.5 to +45 °C.
- When should the element be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months.
