Omega Air BFHP flanged compressed air filters up to 25 bar

Omega Air BFHP flanged filters remove solid particles, water, oil aerosols, hydrocarbons, odours and vapours from compressed air up to 25 bar. The housing is welded from carbon steel and is connected to the air line by flanges. The manufacturer intends them for industrial applications with large flows, where they protect the air line and the equipment downstream of the filter.
The range has 6 filtration stages and 10 sizes with DN80 to DN300 flanges and flows of 1,680 to 31,400 Nm³/h (28,000 to 523,333 l/min) at 7 bar. The housing holds 1 to 20 identical elements — the element determines the filtration stage. The elements are the same as in the BF flanged filters up to 16 bar.
Six filtration stages
Each tile leads to a stage with a table of sizes and the spare element.
| Stage | Filtration rating | ISO 8573-1 class | Residual oil | Pressure drop of a new element | Element replacement | Temperature up to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| B coarse filter | 15 µm | 7-x-x | – | 20 mbar | once a year or at 350 mbar | +65 °C |
| P basic filter | 3 µm | 6-x-x | – | 10 mbar | once a year or at 350 mbar | +65 °C |
| R dust filter | 1 µm | 3-x-x | – | 20 mbar | once a year or at 350 mbar | +65 °C |
| M fine pre-filter | 0.1 µm | 2-x-2 | < 0.1 mg/m³ | 50 mbar | once a year or at 350 mbar | +65 °C |
| S microfilter | 0.01 µm | 1-x-1 | < 0.01 mg/m³ | 80 mbar | once a year or at 350 mbar | +65 °C |
| A activated carbon | – | 1-x-1 | < 0.005 mg/m³ | 60 mbar | within 6 months at the latest | +45 °C |
The ISO 8573-1 class is written as solid particles – water – oil; x means that the filter does not determine that component. Solid particle class 1 for activated carbon A only applies when an S microfilter is installed before it.
Sizes and codes
The codes lead to the filter product pages. All stages of the same size have the same housing, flange, flow and number of elements; the flow applies to 7 bar and +20 °C.

Where to place each stage

The stages are arranged from coarse to fine in the direction of flow: coarse filter B, basic filter P, dust filter R, fine pre-filter M, microfilter S and finally activated carbon A. Each stage protects the finer stages after it, so their elements last longer. The fine pre-filter M goes before the microfilter S. An S microfilter always goes before activated carbon — only with it does solid particle class 1 apply; activated carbon must not work in an oil-saturated environment.
Flow at a different pressure
The flows in the tables apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, multiply the flow by the manufacturer’s correction factor:
| Pressure (bar) | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 12 | 14 | 15 | 18 | 20 | 22 | 25 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Correction factor | 0.38 | 0.5 | 0.63 | 0.75 | 0.88 | 1 | 1.13 | 1.25 | 1.38 | 1.63 | 1.88 | 2 | 2.37 | 2.63 | 2.89 | 3.25 |
For other conditions, such as a different temperature, the flow has to be recalculated — contact us.

Elements, replacement and drain
You will find elements for all stages and the differential pressure gauge among the BFHP spare elements. Replace the elements once a year, or earlier when the pressure drop reaches 350 mbar; activated carbon elements within 6 months at the latest. The pressure drop is shown by the MDHI 50 differential pressure gauge.
The filter is supplied without a condensate drain; it is ordered separately. For this range, the manufacturer lists the TD 50M timed drain and the AOK 50B float drain.
Where they are used
The manufacturer lists BFHP filters for general industry, the automotive industry, electronics, food and beverages, chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics and paint shops.
Ventilek’s tip
The fine pre-filter M goes before the microfilter S. The 0.01 µm microfilter traps the finest particles, but coarser ones would quickly clog it. And an S microfilter always goes before activated carbon A.
- Up to what pressure do BFHP filters work?
- Up to 25 bar. The working temperature is +1.5 to +65 °C, with activated carbon A up to +45 °C.
- How do they differ from BF filters?
- BF filters work up to 16 bar, BFHP filters up to 25 bar. The 76090 elements are the same in both ranges, as are the DN80 to DN300 flanges and the flows.
- Which filtration stage do I need?
- For solid contaminants, the coarse filter B, basic filter P or dust filter R is enough. For oil, there are the fine pre-filter M (class 2-x-2) and the microfilter S (1-x-1); for oil vapours and odours, activated carbon A after the microfilter S.
- How do I choose the size?
- By flow and flange: the table shows the flow at 7 bar. At a different pressure, multiply the flow by the correction factor from the table.
- How often should the elements be replaced?
- Once a year, or earlier when the pressure drop reaches 350 mbar. Activated carbon elements within 6 months at the latest.
- Is a condensate drain included?
- No. The filter is supplied as a housing with elements; the condensate drain is ordered separately.
Data on dimensions, flows, weights, purity classes and correction factors are based on the technical documentation of the manufacturer Omega Air. Flows apply to 7 bar and +20 °C.
You will find other Omega Air filters among the Omega Air industrial compressed air filters, and filters up to 50 bar in the HF range.
