Oil-free compressors ABAC Tech ATFS: portable and low-noise
ABAC Tech ATFS · oil-free · 10 barAn industrial compressor is usually delivered, put in place and stays there. ABAC Tech ATFS is the exception: six machines you can move yourself — the lightest weighs 32 kg, the heaviest 76 — and they still run an S1 motor at a 100% duty cycle like the rest of the industrial range. On top of that they compress air completely without oil and are the quietest branch of the whole family: 88 to 92 dB against 98 to 106 dB in the other branches. Tanks from three to one hundred litres.
Three things that decide the choice
All six machines are oil-free, single-stage at 10 bar, directly driven and slow running at 1,400 rpm. They differ in three things.
1. Two point two, or three kilowatts?
The smaller machines have one pump unit with two pistons and deliver 192 l/min at 10 bar. The three-kilowatt ones have two units, that is four pistons, and deliver 245 l/min. The price for that is 4 dB of noise — 88 against 92 dB.
2. How large a tank?
The choice is 3, 10, 24, 50 or 100 litres. Fifty litres covers short peaks on a single tool, one hundred litres also survives a longer draw. A special case is the 2×5 l version — two tanks under the frame so the machine stays low and rolls well.
3. A socket, or a three-phase supply?
Five machines run on ordinary 230 V, so you can plug them in anywhere. Only the ATFS-3-100CT runs on three-phase 400 V — otherwise it is the same machine with the same figures and dimensions.
How to read the machine code
The code ATFS-3-100CM has four parts: ATFS is the oil-free portable range, the first number is the motor power in kilowatts, the second the tank volume in litres, and the letters at the end give the supply voltage.
ATFS — oil-free and on wheels
All six machines. Pump units without a drop of oil, a protective tubular frame, wheels and a folding handle. Pressure 10 bar, 1,400 rpm, S1 motor.
CM — for 230 V
Five machines, 32 to 76 kg. Single-phase supply, that is an ordinary socket. This includes both the smallest machine of the range with a three-litre tank and the heaviest one with a hundred-litre tank.
CT — for 400 V
One machine, 76 kg. The three-phase version of the hundred-litre model. Its figures and dimensions are identical to the CM version, only the supply differs.
What "oil-free" means on an industrial machine
An ordinary piston compressor lubricates its cylinders with oil and sends part of it on into the air. In the ATFS there is no oil at all — the pistons slide on PTFE rings and the cylinders have a ceramic surface that takes the heat and the friction. It is all held by the patented connecting rod carrying both pistons; you can see it in the picture.
In practice this means two things. First, clean air wherever oil would be a problem — paint shops, food production, laboratories, healthcare. Second, no oil maintenance: there is nothing to check, top up or change. The rest of the build is industrial: a four-pole motor at 1,400 rpm, reinforced bearings and running without pauses for cooling.

Delivery is the amount of air the machine supplies at a working pressure of 10 bar; intake is the volume drawn in by the pump units. Lwa is the sound power level from the rating plate, Lwp the sound pressure level at a distance of four metres. Dimensions are length × width × height. All values are manufacturer data.

The quietest branch of the family — but without an enclosure
The sound power level Lwa is 88 dB on the two-kilowatt machines and 92 dB on the three-kilowatt ones. Within the ABAC Tech industrial range that is the lowest figure: the other branches are at 98 to 106 dB. A difference of 10 to 18 dB is very clearly audible. It is not the merit of a sound enclosure — the machine has none. It comes from the slow running speed and the oil-free pump units.
🔴 Be careful when comparing offers. For these machines the figure 68 to 72 dB is commonly quoted — but that is the sound pressure Lwp measured at four metres, roughly 20 dB(A) below the Lwa sound power on the rating plate. Both numbers are correct, each simply measures something else. Here you will find both for every machine.
Three shapes of the same machine
The shape changes with the tank: from the smallest one in a protective frame, through two tanks under the frame, to the horizontal hundred-litre receiver.

What all the machines share
Compression entirely without oil
PTFE piston rings and a ceramic cylinder surface. No oil can reach the air.
S1 motor at a 100 % duty cycle
An industrial regime without pauses for cooling — as in the rest of the ABAC Tech range.
Patented connecting rod
Both pistons sit on one connecting rod with a reinforced bearing. Fewer parts, less play.
Protective tubular frame
The frame protects the pump units and the fittings during transport and loading.
Wheels and a folding handle
One person can move the machine — from 32 kg on the smallest model.
Slow running at 1,400 rpm
Lower speed means less noise and less wear than on ordinary workshop machines.
Direct drive without belts
No belt tensioning and no belt replacement.
Two-year warranty
A two-year warranty applies to every machine in the range.
Ventilek advises
Oil-free does not mean no air treatment. No oil will really reach the air, but moisture will. Compressed air condenses regardless of how the machine is lubricated, so the tank has to be drained, and for sensitive applications a dryer or at least a water separator belongs downstream of the compressor. And one more thing: oil-free units are louder than lubricated ones of the same size — which is why even this "quietest" branch still sits at 88 to 92 dB, not at 60.
Frequently asked questions
- Does really no oil reach the air from these machines?
- Correct. The pump units have no oil charge at all — the pistons slide on PTFE rings and the cylinders have a ceramic surface, so there is no way for oil to get into the air. Moisture, however, does not disappear; it condenses in every compressor and is dealt with by draining the tank, by a water separator or by a dryer.
- Are these machines enclosed, or just low-noise?
- Low-noise. They have no sound enclosure — the sound power of 88 to 92 dB comes from the slow running speed (1,400 rpm) and the oil-free pump units. Within the ABAC Tech industrial range this is the lowest value, the other branches are at 98 to 106 dB. If you need a machine for a room where people work, look for a version in a sound enclosure.
- Why does the three-kilowatt machine have four pistons?
- Because it has two pump units, each with two pistons. The two-kilowatt machines have one unit with two pistons. That is how the three-kilowatt machine delivers 245 l/min against 192 l/min, while being 4 dB louder.
- What does S1 mean and why does it matter on a portable machine?
- S1 is the designation of the motor duty according to the standard: the machine may run continuously at full output as long as it is cooled. Ordinary portable compressors are rated S3, where a pause for cooling has to follow after a certain running time. The ATFS is portable, but its duty is industrial — which is why you find it in the ABAC Tech range and not among hobby machines.
- What is the difference between CM and CT?
- Only the voltage. CM is single-phase 230 V, an ordinary socket; there are five of them. CT is three-phase 400 V and there is only one — the hundred-litre ATFS-3-100CT. Its output, noise, weight and dimensions are identical to the ATFS-3-100CM.
- What is the version with two five-litre tanks for?
- To keep the machine low and easy to wheel. Two five-litre tanks fit side by side under the frame, so the centre of gravity is low and the machine does not tip over. Together that is ten litres — a reserve for short peaks, not for continuous draw.
- Can one person carry it?
- The smallest machine weighs 32 kg and has wheels and a folding handle, so it can be moved without help. The hundred-litre model weighs 76 kg — that one can be wheeled on the level, but not up stairs. In between there are machines of 36, 44 and 50 kg.
Where to go next
This category is the portable oil-free branch of the ABAC Tech industrial range. The other branches look like this: An overview of all ranges is in the Compressors category.
- The oil-free ATF range — stronger oil-free machines on a frame — 1.5 to 7.5 kW, but no longer portable
- ATF on a tank — an oil-free set on a 270 l receiver
- The lubricated ATL range — when oil in the air is no problem — more air for the same kilowatts
- The high-pressure ATH range — two-stage machines for 15, 20 and 30 bar
- The whole industrial range — an overview of all ABAC Tech branches in one place
- How to choose a compressor — from tool consumption through output to receiver size
Performance data are measured according to ISO 1217, annex C, as currently in force; noise according to ISO 2151. Under the European machinery directive the sound power level Lwa is stated on the machine rating plate, while the sound pressure level Lwp is measured at a distance of four metres and is roughly 20 dB(A) lower. All values are manufacturer data.
