Fine compressed air pre-filters
A fine pre-filter is a coalescing filter: it captures particles from 0.1 µm and oil droplets and aerosol so that at most 0.1 mg/m³ of oil remains in the air – class 2 for solid particles and oil according to ISO 8573-1. It is installed before the microfilter, which it protects from rapid clogging, and before a desiccant dryer. FUTURA air treatment units use a 0.3 µm pre-filter in the same role. Where to use a fine pre-filter
Before a microfilter and a desiccant dryer, in paint shops, the food industry and wherever oil mist is a problem. The same grade also includes P-VAC and M-VAC vacuum filters for vacuum pumps and medical vacuum systems.

How to choose a fine pre-filter
- Order: a basic filter goes before the fine pre-filter, a 0.01 µm microfilter of the same size after it.
- Pressure and housing: up to 16 bar the aluminium AAF series, up to 16 and 25 bar the flanged BF and BFHP, up to 50 bar HF, stainless process series up to 14 and 50 bar and high-pressure CHP and IHP up to 100, 250 and 420 bar.
- Size by the flow at your pressure. The nominal flow applies to the reference pressure; at lower pressure a larger filter is needed – the conversion is on each series page.
- Oil and water removal: captured oil and water drain from the coalescing element into the bowl, so the filter needs a condensate drain and a clogging indicator.
