WFIW welded stainless steel filters with welding ends up to 14 bar

WFIW filters from the manufacturer Omega Air have a welded housing made of stainless steel 1.4404 with welding ends for the pipeline and FKM seals. They work up to 14 bar, and the manufacturer designs them for compressed air and other gases where there is a risk of corrosion or where the housing must be made of stainless steel.
Twelve filtration stages: a cyclone separator with a cyclone element, 25 and 5 µm stainless steel meshes, 20 and 1 µm sintered and welded pre-filters, a 3 µm fibre pre-filter, a 1 µm dust filter, a 0.1 µm fine pre-filter, a 0.01 µm microfilter and activated carbon. The range has 11 sizes with welding ends for ø 17.2 to 88.9 mm pipes, with flows of 1,250 to 60,000 l/min at 7 bar. It is one of the stainless steel process filters.

How to put the filtration together

The stages are arranged from coarse to fine in the direction of flow. Each stage protects the finer stages after it, so their elements last longer. Only the stages needed for the required air purity are installed in the air line.
The cyclone separator C is at the start and separates condensate droplets. The welded pre-filters IW20 and IW1 are a different design of the 20 and 1 µm stages — they are used instead of the sintered I20 and I1. The fine pre-filter M goes before the microfilter S and protects its element; a microfilter S goes before activated carbon A.
Sizes and dimensions

The size determines the connection, the flow and the housing dimensions. All stages of the same size have the same housing; only the element differs. Each size has one PF range element with the same size number; the cyclone separator has a cyclone element.
Height A is 202 to 1,029 mm, the weight 1.8 to 16.2 kg.

The flows apply to a pressure of 7 bar and a temperature of +20 °C. At a different pressure, they are multiplied by the correction factor: 1.88 at 14 bar, 0.63 at 4 bar.

Housing and connection

Housing: welded stainless steel 1.4404, 1.4301 on request, FKM seals (EPDM or silicone on request), welding ends for the pipeline. It withstands temperatures from −20 to +150 °C; the actual limit depends on the seals and the element.
The filter is supplied with an element, without a condensate drain.
Accessories

MDHI 50-K gauge
Differential pressure gauge with connecting tubes; it shows how clogged the element is.
Condensate drainage
For WFIW filters, the manufacturer offers the AOK20SS stainless steel float drain up to 20 bar and +65 °C and, for the head, the MDHI 50-K differential pressure gauge. The drain outlet in the bottom has a G 1/2" thread.
Other ranges
Other process filters: PF filters (14 bar, 10 bar from DN100), HPF filters (50 bar), WFIT filters (14 bar), WFIF filters (14 bar, 10 bar from DN100) and WHFIT filters (50 bar).
Ventilek’s tip
Welded into the pipeline. The ends of the WFIW housing match the diameter of the stainless steel pipe into which the filter is welded. The diameter for each size is given in the size table.
- What pressure are WFIW filters rated for?
- Up to 14 bar. The housing withstands −20 to +150 °C; the elements have their own temperature limit.
- How is the filter connected?
- By welding it into the pipeline. Depending on the size, the housing ends match a pipe diameter of ø 17.2 to 88.9 mm.
- How do I choose the size?
- By the flow at your pressure. The flows apply to 7 bar; at a different pressure, multiply them by the correction factor — at 14 bar it is 1.88.
- Is a condensate drain included with the filter?
- No, it is ordered separately. The AOK20SS float drain up to 20 bar is suitable.
- How often should the elements be replaced?
- At least once every 12 months. Once a year, also check the housing for visible damage.
