Petrol piston compressor WALTER WKM 700-7/38 engine power 4.3 kW, air delivery 316 l/min, pressure 10 bar, air receivers 2 × 19 l, Honda GX200 engine
Code: WKM700-7/38Product detailed description
WALTER WKM 700-7/38 Petrol Piston Compressor
The WKM 700-7/38 is the only compressor in the WALTER range that needs no electricity. Its oil-lubricated three-cylinder piston unit is driven via a V-belt by a 4.3 kW Honda GX200 petrol engine. The free air delivery is 316 l/min at a pressure of 10 bar, and the air is stored in two 19-litre tanks. The machine weighs 82 kg, measures 1,250 × 510 × 690 mm and comes with a 3-year warranty.
It belongs where no cable reaches: on building sites with no power supply, in orchards and vineyards, in the fields or for repairing machinery out on site. It powers staplers and nailers for roof framing or formwork, blow guns, tyre inflation and short tightening jobs with an impact wrench. It must only be operated outdoors — exhaust fumes have no place in a hall, garage or cellar.
Configuration of this machine
- Engine — Honda GX200 · 4.3 kW · petrol · manual recoil starter
- Piston unit — three cylinders · oil lubrication · V-belt drive under a protective guard
- Pressure vessels — 2 × 19 l · each with its own condensate drain
- Air outlet — pressure regulator with a pressure gauge and air quick couplings
- Transport — front transport wheel, handles and fixed feet
- Working pressure of 10 bar for common pneumatic tools
Why choose this model
Air without a power supply
The petrol engine makes the compressor independent of the mains. There is no need to look for a socket or worry about the circuit breaker or cable length, and you power your tools right where the work is — on scaffolding, in an orchard or next to a machine that has broken down in a field.
Honda GX200 engine
The single-cylinder four-stroke engine is started with a manual recoil starter, using the choke when it is cold. It runs on unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 91; E10 is also permitted. The engine has its own oil, separate from the compressor oil.
Two tanks as the frame
Two horizontal 19-litre tanks form the base of the machine, so the compressor is only 690 mm high and has a low centre of gravity. Together, the 38 litres of stored air even out short peaks, for example when an impact wrench briefly draws more than the unit can replenish.
Moves like a wheelbarrow
Lift the handles, the weight rests on the front wheel, and you can wheel the 82 kg machine across firm ground. On site, it stands on fixed feet. It may only be moved with the engine switched off and the tanks depressurised.
Who is it for
Construction companies and carpenters working on sites with no power supply, gardeners and winegrowers, farmers, and service technicians who repair machines on the spot. In terms of output, it corresponds to the smallest electric class of the WALTER range (340 l/min): it can supply one workstation with pneumatic tools, but not continuous grinding or sandblasting.
Typical applications
- Staplers and nailers for roof framing, formwork or fencing
- Blowing off and cleaning machines and parts right on site
- Tyre inflation for construction and agricultural machinery
- Short tightening jobs with a 1/2" impact wrench
- Pneumatic pruning shears in orchards and vineyards
When to choose a different model
You have a power supply on site
The electric WK430-3,0/100P delivers a similar 340 l/min, has a hundred-litre tank and may also be used indoors in a workshop. For a standard 230 V socket, there is the WK430-3,0/100AP.
The machine will stand indoors, in a hall or garage
A combustion engine has no place in enclosed spaces. For a workshop, choose an electric model — you will find all 28 electric variants in the category.
You need more air without electricity
For several tools at once, there are the Engine Air combustion-engine compressors with engines of up to 12.6 kW and tanks of up to 270 l, in both petrol and diesel versions.

What the figures tell you — calculated values
The values are calculated and are meant for comparing the models with each other, not as guaranteed figures.
Operation and maintenance
The compressor may only be operated outdoors, on level, firm ground where the exhaust fumes can escape freely — never on a pallet or a makeshift base. Before every start, check the oil level in both the engine and the compressor. The sound pressure level is 80 dB(A) at a distance of 1 m (guaranteed sound power level 95 dB(A)), so wear hearing protection when working near the machine.
- After the first 8 hours of operation, retighten the cylinder head bolts (25 Nm) and the other connections
- Change the engine oil (four-stroke oil, API SJ class or higher) for the first time after 20 hours, then at least once every 6 months
- Change the compressor oil for the first time after 100 hours, then at least once every 6 months — during the warranty period, use original WALTER WKTT
- Drain the condensate from both tanks at least once a week
- Clean the compressor intake filters and the engine air filter at least once a month
- Inspections in months 6, 12 and 18: filters, oils, spark plug, fuel sediment cup and belt
Before a longer period out of use, drain the petrol from the tank and let the engine run until it has used up the fuel left in the carburettor — stale fuel makes starting difficult. Compressor oil can be found in the category Compressor oils.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I run the compressor in a garage or a hall?
- No. The combustion engine emits exhaust fumes, and operation in enclosed spaces is prohibited. The compressor belongs outdoors, in a place with free air circulation. For a workshop, choose an electric model from the WALTER range.
- What petrol does it take?
- Clean unleaded petrol for four-stroke engines with an octane rating of at least 91 — that is, standard 95-octane unleaded petrol. Petrol with up to 10% ethanol (E10) is permitted. Do not mix the petrol with oil, and do not use stale fuel.
- How many tools can it run at once?
- The air delivery is 316 l/min. Under the simultaneous-use rule — add up the tools that run at the same time and add 30% — this works out at four staplers at once, or one tool using around 240 l/min continuously. For continuous grinding, painting larger surfaces or sandblasting, the output is too low.
- How is the compressor transported?
- Over shorter distances on firm ground: lift the handles and the machine rolls on its front wheel. It may only be moved with the engine switched off and the tanks depressurised. In a vehicle, secure it with straps by the load-bearing parts of the frame, not by the covers, hoses or fuel tank.
- What is in the box?
- The compressor on a transport pallet, the operating manual and the EC declaration of conformity. Hoses and tools are sold separately.
The machine comes with a 3-year warranty. Warranty terms and a comparison of the whole range can be found in the category WALTER cast-iron piston compressors.
Ventilek’s tip
Petrol goes stale in the tank. When you lay the compressor up for the winter, drain both the tank and the carburettor — then in spring the engine will start first time.
