Product detailed description
WALTER WK430-3.0/100P Cast Iron Piston Compressor - 2.2kW, 100l
The WK430-3.0/100P combines an entry-level 2.2 kW cast iron unit with a 100 l horizontal air receiver. The 2V twin-cylinder intakes 420 l/min, delivers 340 l/min to the distribution line at 10 bar, and operates at 1,276 rpm. It is powered by a three-phase 400 V / 50 Hz supply, with noise levels of approximately 80 dB(A) according to the manufacturer's methodology, and a 3-year warranty upon registration at waltercesko.cz.
The 100 l receiver is the smallest size in this power class that prevents the motor from cycling constantly: at a continuous draw of 150 l/min, it results in approximately 25 starts per hour compared to 50 for the 50 l version. The 100 l capacity is just below the recommended tank-to-intake ratio (which for 420 l/min is 130 to 215 l) — in practice, this is a reasonably balanced platform configuration that won't take up unnecessary space in a small workshop.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
With a difference of 2 bar between the cut-in and cut-out pressure, the 100 l tank delivers approximately 200 litres of free air per cycle. At a continuous draw of 150 l/min, this means roughly 25 starts per hour instead of 50 for the 50 l version. The service life of a piston compressor depends precisely on the number of starts, not on the total engine hours accrued.
A general rule of thumb is 0.3 to 0.5 litres of tank capacity per 1 l/min of intake; for 420 l/min, this results in 130 to 215 l. The 100 l volume is therefore just below the range but practically sufficient — unlike the 50 l volume, which is significantly below it. Those wishing to be within the recommended range should opt for the 200 l version.
A 1/2" impact wrench can briefly draw up to 400 l/min, which is more than a machine with a 340 l/min output can produce. The 100 l tank compensates for this difference for approximately 3.3 minutes of continuous work before the pressure drops — compared to only 1.7 minutes for the 50 l version.
The 400 V version distributes the starting current across three phases, eliminating the need for a separate circuit and a slow-trip circuit breaker required by the single-phase WK430-3.0/100AP variant. If you have a three-phase connection in your workshop, this is the simpler path from an installation perspective.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.
WK430-3.0/100P Technical Data
What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
This model is most commonly found in small metalworking shops, locksmiths, or joineries that have a 400 V distribution board and a single workstation where compressed air is used. It is also suitable for smaller auto services where ratchets and impact wrenches are used in intervals of several minutes, allowing time for repressurisation. This is not a machine for two simultaneous workstations or continuous grinding — for such applications, a higher power class is required.
Typical applications
- Blow guns and cleaning of workpieces in metal fabrication
- Staplers, nailers and pneumatic drills in joinery
- 3/8" pneumatic ratchet and light impact wrench in a smaller service station
- Tyre inflation and pressure testing of small components
- Pneumatic clamping of simple fixtures
- Blow guns and mould cleaning in small-scale production
Where to choose a different model
With a 200 l tank on the same unit, the number of starts at a consumption of 150 l/min drops from approximately 25 to 13 per hour, and the tank covers peaks above the machine's delivery for more than 6 minutes instead of 3.3. At the cost of filling from zero taking 5.9 minutes instead of 2.9.
View recommended model →The 3.0 kW three-cylinder platform delivers 440 l/min of effective delivery at lower 1,202 rpm. With the same 100 l tank, it is the direct successor to this model if you lack power for a grinder or spray gun, rather than storage capacity.
View recommended model →The WK430-3,0/100AP model is the same machine for standard 230 V. Allow for a dedicated circuit, a slow-characteristic circuit breaker, and a supply cable dimensioned according to the length.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.
