Complete air treatment units – ready-made assemblies with lubricator

A complete air treatment unit is a ready-made assembly of a filter, a pressure regulator and a lubricator that you connect as one piece. It cleans the air, reduces it to the set pressure and adds oil mist to it for tools, cylinders and valves.
Here you will find complete units from all 9 ranges of air treatment units: from miniature plastic ones through metal ones for 18 bar, units for potentially explosive atmospheres and for high flow rates, to stainless steel up to 60 bar. The table below shows how the ranges differ.
Complete units by range
“Inlet up to” is the highest air line pressure the unit withstands. The setting range is the range of the unit’s regulator. The flow applies to the largest thread of the range and to the whole unit.
| Complete air treatment units — range comparison | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Range | Connection | Inlet up to | Setting range | Filtration | Flow up to | ATEX |
| P2 | G 1/4" | 12 bar | 0–12 bar | 20 µm | 260 l/min | – |
| I3 | G 1/8", 1/4" | 13 bar | 0–8 bar | 20 µm | 260 l/min | – |
| A2 | G 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 1" | 10 bar | 0.5–8.5 bar | 5 µm | 4,000 l/min | – |
| B2 | G 1/4"–1" | 18 bar | 0–12 bar | 20 µm | 4,600 l/min | – |
| I8 | G 1/4"–1/2" | 18 bar | 0–12 bar | 20 µm | 2,200 l/min | – |
| COMBIBLOC | G 1/4"–1" | 16 / 25 bar | 0.5–16 bar | 40 µm | 3,400 l/min | – |
| FUTURA | G 1/4"–1" | 12 / 16 bar | 0.1–16 bar | 5 µm | 12,000 l/min | some versions |
| STANDARD | G 3/4"–2" | 16 / 25 bar | 0.5–10 bar | 40 µm | 12,678 l/min | – |
| A1X | G 1/4", 1/2", 1" | 30 / 60 bar | 0.5–20 bar | 5 µm | 8,000 l/min | – |
On COMBIBLOC and STANDARD, 25 bar applies with a metal bowl, 16 bar with a plastic one. On FUTURA, the 12 bar inlet applies to the smallest size 0, which is not for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. On A1X, the G 1/4" thread withstands 30 bar, the larger threads 60 bar; the manufacturer states the flow with a 40 µm element, and with the 5 µm element fitted as standard it is lower.

Two-piece, three-piece or in one body
In all units, the air passes first through the filter, then through the regulator and finally through the lubricator. The order is set at the factory; the ranges differ in how the devices are joined.

Two-piece unit
A pressure regulator with filter in one body and a lubricator next to it. Most ranges are built this way, from the plastic P2 to the stainless steel A1X.

Three-piece unit
Filter, regulator and lubricator as three separate modules. In the FUTURA range, it has the same flow as the two-piece unit and is one module wider.

All in one body
COMBIBLOC has the filter, regulator and lubricator in one body, with the lubricator bowl inside the filter bowl. It takes up much less space than three devices in a row.

Safety version
A FUTURA two-piece unit with an upstream ball valve that you lock with a padlock, and with a soft-start valve for gradual pressure build-up.
Ready-made unit or separate devices
A ready-made unit is assembled and has the order of devices set at the factory, so you connect it as one piece. A two-piece unit has the filter and regulator in one body, so compared with three separate devices it saves space and one joint.
Choose separate devices when the unit cannot handle the flow. The air in it passes through both the filter regulator and the lubricator, so it lets through less air than separate devices of the same size. For example, the P2 two-piece unit passes 260 l/min, a separate P2 regulator 600 l/min and the filter 1,200 l/min.
Separate devices are also the right choice when you want a different filtration fineness or each device at a different point in the air line. You can choose separate filters, pressure regulators and lubricators (air line oilers) from 7 ranges.
A complete unit always has a lubricator and delivers lubricated air at the outlet. For painting, blow-off, the food industry or measuring instruments, you do not want oil in the air — a pressure regulator with filter is enough there.
How to choose a range
By air line pressure. Up to 10 bar, A2 is enough; the plastic P2 and I3 withstand 12 and 13 bar. For 18 bar, there are the metal B2 and I8. COMBIBLOC, FUTURA and STANDARD withstand 16 bar, COMBIBLOC and STANDARD with a metal bowl up to 25 bar. The stainless steel A1X withstands up to 60 bar.
By flow. Add up the consumption of everything that will run at the same time. For a single tool, P2 or I3 is enough; for a branch of the air line and machines with high air consumption, there are STANDARD units up to G 2". Their lubricator only adds oil from a flow of 167 l/min, so a smaller unit is more suitable for smaller tools.
By location. Little space is taken up by the plastic P2 and I3, 80 mm wide, and by COMBIBLOC with all three devices in one body, 66 mm wide in size 1.
By environment. For potentially explosive atmospheres, there are FUTURA two-piece and three-piece units in sizes 1, 2 and 4. Where aluminium or plastic would corrode — in the food industry, the chemical industry or outdoors — there is the stainless steel A1X. For warmer environments, there are COMBIBLOC and STANDARD with a metal bowl up to 90 °C.
By condensate drain. For continuous operation, choose an automatic drain: on FUTURA and COMBIBLOC you select it as a variant on the product page, on STANDARD by replacing the filter bowl.
Mounting, maintenance and what is included
Mount the unit upright, bowls down, in the direction of the arrow on the body and as close to the consumer as possible. Leave space under the bowls for draining the condensate and topping up the oil.
A pressure gauge is included with A2, B2, COMBIBLOC, FUTURA, STANDARD and A1X; for P2, I3 and I8 units it is ordered separately. A2 and A1X units come with a mounting bracket.
Drain the condensate regularly, top up the oil when the level drops to the lower mark and replace a clogged filter element. You will find elements, bowls and other parts for each range among the spare parts and accessories.

Ventilek’s tip
Oil only where it belongs. A complete unit delivers lubricated air. If the same air line also supplies spraying or blow-off, branch off for them before the lubricator.
- What is a complete air treatment unit?
- A ready-made assembly of a filter, a pressure regulator and a lubricator that you connect as one piece. It cleans the air, reduces it to the set pressure and adds oil mist to it.
- What is the difference between a two-piece and a three-piece unit?
- The two-piece unit has the filter and regulator in one body and a lubricator next to it. The three-piece unit has the filter, regulator and lubricator as three separate modules. In the FUTURA range, both have the same flow; the two-piece unit is one module narrower.
- Do I need a complete unit, or is a filter regulator enough?
- A complete unit always has a lubricator. For painting, blow-off, the food industry or measuring instruments, you do not want oil in the air; a pressure regulator with filter is enough there.
- Is the pressure gauge included?
- Yes, with A2, B2, COMBIBLOC, FUTURA, STANDARD and A1X. For P2, I3 and I8 units, the pressure gauge is ordered separately.
- Which unit is for explosive atmospheres?
- FUTURA two-piece and three-piece units in sizes 1, 2 and 4. Size 0 is not for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
