Manifold modules for air treatment units

A manifold module is inserted into an air treatment unit between the other devices, and from its side ports you take air to several points. It has no valve inside, so all ports have the same pressure as the supply.
Here you will find manifold modules from 2 ranges of air treatment units: FUTURA manifold modules with G 1/4" to 1" threads, also with a pressure switch, and B2 manifold modules with four branch ports. The table below shows how they differ.
Manifold modules by version
The connection is the thread of the supply and outlet; “inlet up to” is the highest air line pressure. The flow from supply to outlet applies to the largest thread.
| Manifold modules — version comparison | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Version | Connection | Inlet up to | Flow up to | ATEX |
| FUTURA manifold module | G 1/4"–1" | 12 / 16 bar | 18,000 l/min | some versions |
| FUTURA manifold module with pressure switch | G 1/4"–1" | 12 / 16 bar | 18,000 l/min | – |
| B2T manifold module | 4 branch ports G 1/8"–1/2" | – | – | – |
The 12 bar inlet applies to the smallest FUTURA size 0. Neither size 0 nor manifold modules with pressure switch are for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. B2T modules have no connection of their own: they are inserted between B2 components and have four branch ports, G 1/8" (B2T-1 for the 1/4" thread), G 1/4" (B2T-2 for 3/8" and 1/2") or G 1/2" (B2T-3 for 3/4" and 1").

How the manifold module works

The air passes through the manifold module from supply P to outlet A and continues to the other devices of the unit. The side ports are connected directly to the passage, so each has the same pressure as the supply. After a regulator, it is therefore the set pressure.
The manifold module of the FUTURA range has two to four side ports depending on the size; the B2T manifold module has four branch ports from which you can take air on any side. Close the ports you do not need with a sealed plug, otherwise the manifold module will leak.
Where to put the manifold module in the unit
Most often after the pressure regulator with filter and before the lubricator. The branch then supplies clean oil-free air at the set pressure, for example to a spray gun or blow gun, and after the lubricator, lubricated air continues to the tools.
You can screw a pressure gauge or a pressure sensor into a free port and monitor the pressure directly in the assembly.
You join the FUTURA manifold module to other components of the same size with a connection kit regardless of the thread. The B2T module is connected to B2 components of sizes 1 and 2 with the B2CK connection kit.
Manifold module with pressure switch

The FUTURA manifold module with pressure switch has the switch mounted on the top port and monitors the air line pressure. The setting range is 0.2–16 bar; the switch has one changeover contact and a four-pin connector.
The contact withstands DC voltage of 12–30 V up to 3 A or AC voltage of 12–250 V up to 5 A. There is one free port fewer than on the manifold module without a switch.
The manifold module with switch is not for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. For those, there are FUTURA manifold modules without switch in sizes 1, 2 and 4, which you can use in zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 according to the declaration regarding Directive 2014/34/EU.

Ventilek’s tip
A branch for the blow gun. A manifold module after the filter regulator gives clean oil-free air, just the kind that suits blow-off and spraying. Put the lubricator only after the manifold module.
- What is a manifold module in an air treatment unit?
- A through-flow module with side ports that is inserted between the devices of the unit. From the ports, you take air to several points.
- What pressure is at the manifold module ports?
- The same as at its supply; there is no valve inside. After a regulator, it is therefore the set pressure.
- Where should I connect the manifold module if I want oil-free air?
- After the filter regulator and before the lubricator. After the lubricator, the air already contains oil.
- What is the manifold module with pressure switch for?
- The switch on the top port monitors the air line pressure. You set it within a range of 0.2–16 bar, and it has one changeover contact.
- Are manifold modules suitable for potentially explosive atmospheres?
- FUTURA manifold modules without switch in sizes 1, 2 and 4 are, in zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 according to the declaration regarding Directive 2014/34/EU. Size 0 and manifold modules with pressure switch are not.
- How many branch ports does the B2 manifold module have?
- Four: G 1/8" on B2T-1, G 1/4" on B2T-2 and G 1/2" on B2T-3.
