Pressure regulators for air treatment units
A pressure regulator reduces the air line pressure to the value you set and holds it even when the air line pressure fluctuates. In an air treatment unit, it goes after the filter and before the lubricator.
Here you will find separate regulators from 7 ranges of air treatment units: from miniature plastic ones through metal ones for 18 bar and regulators for potentially explosive atmospheres to stainless steel up to 60 bar. You will find precision regulators and multipliers outside the units in the air pressure regulators and multipliers category.
Pressure regulators by range
“Inlet up to” is the highest air line pressure the regulator withstands. The setting range is the range to which you can reduce the pressure. The flow applies to the largest thread of the range.

For the FUTURA range, the 12 bar inlet applies to the smallest size 0, which is not for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, and the 14,600 l/min flow to the remotely controlled regulator; the standard size 4 regulator has 14,200 l/min. On A1X, the G 1/4" thread has a 30 bar inlet and a 0.5–20 bar setting range, the larger threads 60 bar and 0.5–12 bar.

Which regulator version
A standard pressure regulator is in all 7 ranges. The FUTURA and B2 ranges have further versions.
Pressure regulator
For ordinary pressure setting on tools and machines. FUTURA and A1X regulators release excess outlet pressure by themselves.
Precision regulator
Holds the pressure with an accuracy of ±25 mbar, almost independently of the inlet pressure. For measuring and test equipment, in the FUTURA range.
Through-feed
Several FUTURA regulators side by side on one supply, each circuit with a different pressure.
Set by air
The B2 pilot-operated regulator and the FUTURA remotely controlled regulator have no knob; their outlet pressure is set by pilot air. For places that are hard to reach and for large flows.
How to choose a range
By air line pressure. Up to 10 bar, A2 is enough; the plastic P2 and I3 withstand 12 and 13 bar. For 18 bar, there are the metal B2 and I8, FUTURA is rated for 16 bar and the stainless steel A1X for up to 60 bar.
By setting range. For tools and machines, a standard range is enough; on FUTURA, 0.5–8 bar is the most versatile. You set fine pressures below 2 bar with FUTURA regulators with a range of 0.1–1, 0.1–2 or 0.2–4 bar. More than 12 bar after the regulator is provided by FUTURA with a 0.5–16 bar range and by the stainless steel A1X with a G 1/4" thread, up to 20 bar.
By environment. For potentially explosive atmospheres, there are FUTURA regulators in sizes 1, 2 and 4. Where aluminium or plastic would corrode — in the food industry, the chemical industry or outdoors — there is the stainless steel A1X range.
By location and mounting. The plastic P2 and I3 regulators are only 40 mm wide. You can also fix P2 and B2 regulators in a machine housing with a lock nut, and FUTURA regulators in a panel with a nut. So that nobody changes the setting, you lock FUTURA regulators in sizes 1 to 4 with a padlock.
Regulator, filter regulator or complete unit
A filter goes before the regulator; otherwise dirt from the air line damages its seat and diaphragm. If you have no filter, choose a pressure regulator with filter straight away, and if the tools also need oil, a complete air treatment unit.
A separate regulator is the right choice when you already have a filter for air treatment units in the air line, or for the main air line after the compressor. Set the large regulator there once and leave the fine-tuning for individual points to smaller regulators at the consumers.
For safe maintenance, there is the FUTURA safety regulator with an upstream lockable ball valve and a soft-start valve. Before maintenance you close and lock the valve; at start-up, the soft-start valve fills the air line gradually, so the cylinders do not move out abruptly.
Mounting and setting
Mount the regulator in the direction of the arrow on the body; in an assembly, after the filter and before the lubricator. Turn the pressure gauge so that it can be seen from the operator’s position.
Set the pressure from below: back the knob off below the required value and slowly turn it up until the gauge shows what you need. Set it while air is being drawn — with no air being drawn, the gauge shows more than the consumers actually get.
A2, B2 and A1X regulators and most FUTURA regulators come with a pressure gauge. For P2, I3 and I8 regulators and the B2 pilot-operated regulator, it is ordered separately; you will find a suitable one among the pressure gauges for measuring pressure.

Ventilek’s tip
A regulator only reduces pressure. If the tool is to get 6 bar, the air line before the regulator needs at least one bar more. Only a pressure multiplier gives a higher pressure than the air line has.
