Product detailed description
WALTER WK550P-PLATE cast iron compressor pump on base frame
The WK550P-PLATE is a standalone three-cylinder cast iron pump mounted on a base frame, supplied without a pressure vessel. The 3W version with a power input of 3.0 kW (4 HP) has an intake of 530 l/min, delivers 440 l/min to the distribution system at 10 bar, and operates at 1,202 rpm. 400 V / 50 Hz power supply, V-belt drive, noise level approx. 80 dB(A), 3-year warranty after registration at waltercesko.cz.
It is the smaller of the two three-cylinder pumps available – this is particularly important for setups without a tank, as there is no heavy vessel to dampen vibrations. It is chosen by users building their own custom setup with higher requirements for smooth operation, or those replacing a worn-out pump on a compressor with a 200 to 270 l tank.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
Distributing compression across three cylinders ensures a more uniform torque flow and lower pulsation compared to a twin-cylinder pump. On a standard compressor, vibrations are absorbed by the heavy tank; for a frame-mounted pump, perhaps placed on anti-vibration pads or in a cabinet, smooth operation is a significantly more valuable feature.
Of the 530 l/min intake, 440 l/min reach the distribution system, which is approximately 80 %. This is sufficient for an impact wrench or a spray gun in continuous operation, or for two tools used alternately. Choose a tank in the range of approximately 200 to 270 l for this setup.
Compared to the smallest class, the speed decreases only slightly, but displacement increases by 100 l/min. This pump is therefore the right choice when the setup must operate for more than a few continuous minutes, yet you wish to avoid the higher power and fusing requirements of the 4.0 kW class.
The frame-mounted pump can be installed in a separate room, a cabinet, or on a wall bracket, leaving the tank elsewhere. This simultaneously solves noise and floor space issues – provided there is a free supply of cooling air to the finned pump and sufficient access for maintenance.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.

What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
It is suitable for smaller workshops and service centres where a compressor with a good tank is already in place but the unit has reached the end of its life, as well as for companies building a custom air source – for example, in a separate compressor room to keep the noise behind closed doors. It is assumed that the connections, pressure switch, and fusing will be handled by you or your technician. Those seeking a ready-made solution without the need for assembly should opt for the complete WK550-4.0/270P machine.
Typical applications
- Replacement of a worn-out unit on a compressor with a 200–270 l tank
- Separate compressor room or a soundproof cabinet with a tank in the hall
- Custom assembly for a tyre service or a single-bay auto repair shop
- Supplementary source for an existing distribution system to cover peak demands
- Integration into a machine or technological unit with its own pressure vessel
- Mobile service unit with its own tank on a chassis
Where to choose a different model
The WK550-4.0/270P features the same three-cylinder unit on a 270 l horizontal tank, including a regulator, wheels, and a quick coupler. This eliminates the need for tank inspection and interconnecting.
View recommended model →Opt for the WK650P-PLATE – 993 rpm and 530 l/min. It is the smallest unit in the range that runs below 1,000 rpm, which is precisely what makes it a machine for continuous operation.
View recommended model →The smaller WK430P-PLATE delivers 340 l/min at an input of 2.2 kW. This is sufficient for blow-off, ratchets, and staplers in intermittent operation.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.
